Job Description
Engineering Configuration & Data Specialist (ERP/MRP)
Location: Gilbert, AZ Reports To: Engineering Configuration Manager
Summary
Advanced Technology Systems Company (ATSC) is seeking an Engineering Configuration & Data Specialist to maintain accurate engineering configuration records and support the release of product data into manufacturing systems.
This position manages part-number information, configuration items, engineering bills of material (BOMs), drawing revision reviews, and engineering change records. The specialist coordinates data between SolidWorks PDM, Deltek Costpoint, and Engineering, Manufacturing, Purchasing, and other stakeholders to maintain consistency and traceability.
The ideal candidate understands engineering revision control, BOM structures, and manufacturing routings in an ERP/MRP environment. Costpoint experience is preferred; demonstrated knowledge of how engineering information supports manufacturing is especially important. Transactions, approvals, and access will follow assigned permissions and established procedures.
Key Responsibilities
• Maintain part-number data and project configuration items (CIs) in Costpoint or other authorized systems; research and resolve incorrect, duplicate, or incomplete part information.
• Review provisional/preliminary and engineering BOM line items for part-number accuracy, availability, cost, and consistency with released engineering data.
• Transcribe and maintain drawing BOMs as engineering BOMs in Costpoint, and verify parent-child structure, quantities, units of measure, and applicable revisions.
• Review engineering change requests (ECRs) and associated drawings for part-number and revision accuracy; support traceable implementation of approved changes.
• Check drawing title blocks, revision tables, and master-file consistency; approve, reject, or route drawing revision submissions in accordance with delegated authority and configuration management procedures.
• Coordinate with Manufacturing and Planning on the relationship between released engineering BOMs and manufacturing BOMs and routings, including operations, work centers, and revision/effectivity considerations; identify discrepancies for authorized owners to resolve.
• Use SolidWorks PDM to locate and review drawings and supporting documents, verify revision status, and process assigned workflow items.
• Support part cost research and estimation using supplier quotes and appropriate online sources; maintain authorized cost information and assist with requests for quotation (RFQs) as assigned.
• Coordinate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Purchasing, and other team members to resolve data issues and communicate changes affecting procurement or production.
• Maintain and distribute configuration reports, item lists, and other records; follow applicable quality procedures and document work instructions.
• As workload permits, support departmental initiatives and process-improvement projects beyond routine configuration duties, including SharePoint integration, document management, and other business systems; learn new tools and procedures as needed, with appropriate training and approved access.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
• Hands-on ERP/MRP system experience required; Deltek Costpoint experience preferred.
• Working knowledge of engineering change control, part-number management, drawing revisions, and engineering BOM creation or maintenance required.
• Understanding of manufacturing BOMs and routings, and how engineering releases flow into planning and production, strongly preferred.
• 1–3 years of manufacturing-environment experience preferred; 3–5 years of accurate data-entry or technical-records experience preferred.
• Proficiency with spreadsheet software and inventory or material-management tools; ability to research part-number, availability, and cost discrepancies.
• Experience using a PDM/PLM system, particularly SolidWorks PDM, preferred.
• Strong attention to detail, follow-through, organization, communication, and ability to work across departments and adapt to changing priorities.
• Willingness to learn new technologies, expand job-related skills, and assist with cross-functional projects as business needs and workload allow.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
• Work is performed primarily in an office setting.
• The employee is regularly required to sit, stand, and demonstrate manual dexterity.
• Occasional lifting of objects weighing up to 25 pounds may be required.
• Must be able to read, write, and speak English.
