What You’ll Do as an Avery Market Laboratory Supervisor
The Cannon Memorial Hospital Laboratory Supervisor provides day-to-day operational leadership for laboratory services at Cannon Memorial Hospital and supports safe, efficient, patient-centered laboratory operations across the hospital, outpatient services, and the behavioral health hospital. The Supervisor leads departmental employees, coordinates staffing and workflow, supports employee performance and development, and serves as the primary laboratory liaison for Cannon hospital operations.

Position Qualifications

Minimum Education
-
Associate degree in Medical Laboratory Technology/Technician or equivalent education meeting applicable laboratory personnel requirements; bachelor's degree in clinical laboratory science, medical technology, or a related chemical or biological science preferred.

Experience
-
Minimum 2 years of laboratory, regulatory, technical, supervisory, or leadership experience preferred.
-
Experience with CAP, CLIA, AABB, Joint Commission, and CMS regulatory requirements.

Experience with employee training, quality activities, and multi-department collaboration preferred
-

Required Registration/License/Certification
-
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

Current nationally recognized laboratory certification (e.g., ASCP or AMT).

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
-
Ability to communicate courteously and effectively with the public, patients, family, staff, and physician and acts within the chain of command, utilizing positive verbal and non-verbal skills
-
Competent in delivering safe and effective patient care within legal limits of license and certifications and hospital policies and procedures
-
Ability to demonstrate exceptional customer service to patients, family, staff, and physicians
-
Working knowledge of MS Word and MS Excel
-
Knowledge of Acute Care Operations of the Department and Information Systems
-
Significant knowledge in principles and practices of departmental clinical processes and familiarity with departmental equipment
-

Physical Demands

Prolonged, extensive or considerable sitting/standing/walking

Regularly exposed to the risk of bloodborne diseases
