Endoscopy Technician in Lafayette, Louisiana at Acadiana Endoscopy Center Inc

JOB SUMMARY: Provides skilled, experienced bedside assistance to the physician during procedures. May learn needed skills by receiving on the job training from an experienced assistant in GI procedures.

Job Duties:

· Assembles all equipment and accessories that may be needed in scheduled case

· Is knowledgeable with all equipment, accessories and instruments used during endoscopy cases

· Is familiar with preferences of each endoscopist working in the center

· Anticipates physician needs based on procedure indications

· Familiar with pressure points on patient abdomen to assist passage of endoscope through colon during colonoscopy.

· Familiar with assistance requirements for all endoscopy situations (ie: biopsy, snare, clips, loops, etc.)

· Assist in other areas during free time

· Participates in orientation of new employees

· Updates knowledge by attending inservices and seminars

· Attends and contributes to staff meetings

· Participates in QAPI activities

Knowledge:

· High School Diploma or GED

· Technical Assistant Curriculum or on the job training

· Understanding of clean and sterile technique

· Familiar with facility policies – especially Infection Control, OSHA regulations, use of PPE, patient safety

· Ability to trouble shoot problems with equipment in room
