Director of Admissions and Pathways to the Law

The Director of Admissions and Pathways to the Law plays a crucial role in overseeing the admissions

process and recruitment efforts for prospective law students. Reporting to the Assistant Dean of Admissions and working closely with the Assistant Dean of Admissions, the Director is responsible for executing high-level recruitment strategies and building enrollment pipelines with local and regional institutions. This role requires a culturally competent, organized, and articulate individual who is both a strategic thinker and a proactive leader. The Director will work collaboratively with marketing, career services, and student services to coordinate recruitment campaigns and outreach efforts. Additionally, the Director will evaluate law school applications, participate in diversity initiatives, and attend law school fairs and forums to strengthen the admissions program.

By maintaining strong institutional partnerships and ensuring the seamless onboarding of students, the Director of Admissions and Pathways to the Law contributes to the overall success of the law school’s enrollment goals and student diversity.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead admissions operations, ensuring a smooth recruitment and application process.
  • Maintain strategic enrollment pipelines with local and regional community colleges and universities.
  • Read and evaluate law school applications, ensuring fair and effective admission decisions.
  • Act as a key liaison in recruitment efforts, attending law forums, fairs, and diversity events.
  • Communicate with prospective and admitted students, guiding them through the application and onboarding process.
  • Collaborate with marketing, career services, and student services departments to optimize outreach strategies.
  • Help organize and manage admissions events (onsite, off-campus, and virtual).
  • Participate in legal community events to enhance institutional visibility.
  • Provide leadership and admissions support to increase diverse student enrollment.

Job Requirements

  • At least one year of experience counseling pre-law students or working in the admissions department of an ABA-approved law school.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google Docs.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced higher education environment while learning quickly.
  • Strong multitasking skills and independent decision-making ability.
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree preferred.
  • Experience in undergraduate pathways to law programs.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
