This remote leadership role offers the opportunity to drive the strategy, stability, and modernization of complex billing and payment ecosystems supporting large-scale customer operations. The position focuses on ensuring accurate billing execution, seamless payment processing, and operational integrity across multiple platforms and integrations. You will play a critical role in reducing revenue leakage, improving customer trust, and leading modernization initiatives with an AI-first mindset. Working cross-functionally with finance, engineering, product, and customer operations teams, you will help shape scalable and automated solutions that support long-term growth. This is an ideal opportunity for a strategic and technically skilled leader who thrives in fast-paced, evolving environments. The role combines operational ownership, people leadership, and innovation to improve both customer experience and financial performance.

Accountabilities:
  • Lead end-to-end ownership of billing and payment platform stability across residential, SMB, enterprise, and wholesale services, ensuring high availability and operational reliability.
  • Oversee billing accuracy including rating, invoicing, bill generation, payment posting, and delivery processes across multiple systems and legacy environments.
  • Ensure order-to-bill integrity by collaborating with Product and Engineering teams to maintain accurate service activation, billing triggers, account mapping, and data consistency.
  • Manage payment processing operations including credit card, ACH, and autopay integrations while maintaining strong vendor relationships and service-level performance.
  • Monitor payment exceptions, reconciliation processes, refunds, chargebacks, and financial accuracy while reducing failures through root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Partner with Finance, Security, and Audit teams to maintain compliance, support audits, and ensure adherence to payment security and regulatory standards.
  • Lead incident management and resolution for billing and payment-related issues, including RCA development and preventive improvement initiatives.
  • Define and execute modernization strategies focused on automation, AI-driven operations, scalable architectures, and improved revenue system observability.
  • Serve as a cross-functional leader aligning priorities across Operations, Engineering, Customer Experience, ERP, Product, and Finance teams.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience managing billing, payment systems, revenue operations, or fintech/telecom monetization platforms.
  • At least 3 years of leadership experience with responsibility for operational performance, platform reliability, financial controls, and customer impact.
  • Strong expertise in payment processing concepts including authorization, settlement, reconciliation, ACH processing, disputes, and chargebacks.
  • Proven experience working within multi-platform ecosystems involving billing engines, payment gateways, and ERP or finance system integrations.
  • Demonstrated success leading production incident response, problem management, and operational improvement initiatives.
  • Ability to reduce manual intervention through automation, process redesign, and scalable technology solutions.
  • Experience collaborating with finance and audit teams on compliance, controls, and data integrity initiatives.
  • Strong vendor management skills with experience handling SLAs, escalations, contracts, and delivery oversight.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities with experience aligning technical and business teams around priorities and execution.
  • Preferred experience within telecom, subscription-based, or usage-based billing environments, along with familiarity with AI/ML-driven operational automation and payment security programs.
Benefits
  • Competitive base salary ranging from $125,000 to $183,000 annually depending on experience.
  • Target annual bonus and additional quarterly performance bonus opportunities.
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision healthcare coverage.
  • 401(k) retirement plan and flexible spending account options.
  • Generous paid time off, paid sick leave, and parental leave programs.
  • Fully remote work environment offering flexibility and work-life balance.
  • Professional development support including training programs, career growth opportunities, and education reimbursement.
  • Opportunity to work on large-scale modernization and innovation initiatives within a rapidly growing technology environment.
