This is a highly specialized engineering role focused on advancing the safety, performance, and reliability of boiling water reactor (BWR) fuel and core systems for nuclear utility operations. The position involves direct engagement with plant engineering teams to support fuel cycle strategy, core design, and operational decision-making across multiple reactor sites. You will contribute to critical analyses that ensure regulatory compliance, technical accuracy, and safe plant performance. Operating in a collaborative, client-facing environment, the role blends deep technical expertise with mentorship and cross-functional coordination. It is ideal for engineers who thrive in complex, safety-critical systems and want to influence the future of nuclear energy. The position may be remote or based in one of several nuclear office locations, with occasional travel to client sites.
- Design, analyze, and support BWR fuel cycles and core configurations, including reload activities and strategic fuel planning across multiple reactor sites.
- Maintain and refine detailed core models to support reactor engineering, operational planning, and plant performance optimization.
- Perform technical evaluations to ensure accuracy of calculations, simulations, and licensing documentation in alignment with regulatory requirements.
- Apply advanced knowledge of BWR fuel analysis methods and computational tools to resolve site-specific technical challenges.
- Collaborate closely with utility clients, plant engineers, and internal teams to support project execution and ensure alignment on technical outcomes.
- Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers while contributing to overall team capability development.
- Support business and technical discussions with clients, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and alignment on engineering deliverables.
- Bachelor’s degree in Nuclear Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- 10+ years of experience in the nuclear power industry, with a strong focus on BWR fuel and core design.
- Deep technical expertise in nuclear fuel analysis, core management, and reactor engineering principles.
- Strong proficiency with BWR-related computational codes and analytical methods used in core design and evaluation.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with experience working in client-facing environments.
- Ability to mentor engineers and contribute to team development and technical leadership.
- Experience with regulatory frameworks such as 10CFR50.59 is highly desirable.
- Ability to obtain and maintain unescorted access at nuclear facilities.
- Willingness to travel occasionally to plant sites and client offices.
