About the Role:
The Cashier plays a vital role in ensuring a smooth and efficient checkout experience for customers, directly impacting overall customer satisfaction and store performance. This position requires handling monetary transactions accurately and efficiently while maintaining a friendly and professional demeanor. The Cashier is responsible for operating the cash register, processing payments, and providing receipts, all while adhering to company policies and procedures. Additionally, the role involves maintaining a clean and organized checkout area, assisting with inventory restocking, and supporting other store operations as needed. Ultimately, the Cashier contributes to creating a welcoming environment that encourages repeat business and positive customer interactions.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in cashiering or customer service roles.
- Basic math skills and ability to handle cash accurately.
- Ability to perform repetitive motions and lift/carry heavy weights safely.
- Strong communication skills and phone etiquette.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with point of sale (POS) systems.
- Familiarity with janitorial duties and store maintenance.
- Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced retail environment.
- Additional language skills to assist diverse customer base.
Responsibilities:
- Operate the cash register to process customer purchases, returns, and exchanges accurately and efficiently.
- Handle cash, credit, and debit transactions while ensuring proper cash handling procedures are followed.
- Provide excellent customer service by greeting customers, answering questions, and resolving issues promptly and courteously.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the checkout area, including performing janitorial duties as required.
- Assist with stocking shelves, lifting and carrying heavy items, and supporting other store functions as needed.
- Manage phone etiquette by answering calls professionally and directing inquiries appropriately.
- Work a flexible schedule to accommodate store hours, including weekends and holidays.
