Job Description

Senior User Researcher

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior User Researcher based in United States.

As a Senior User Researcher, you’ll lead end-to-end research across one or more post-purchase product areas, turning real user and merchant behavior into actionable product direction.
You’ll work independently to transform ambiguous business questions into focused research plans and meaningful insights.
The role combines generative and evaluative research to inform ideation, validate experiences, and guide product decisions.
You’ll collaborate closely with Product, Design, Marketing, Engineering, and leadership in a globally distributed environment.
Your research will help shape product strategy while connecting user needs to measurable business and product outcomes.
You’ll also have opportunities to mentor other researchers and contribute to stronger research practices across the organization.
This is a remote-first role with significant autonomy, international collaboration, and the opportunity to influence products used by businesses around the world.

Accountabilities:
  • Partner with Product, Design, Marketing, and Engineering teams to identify high-impact research opportunities and own research for one or more product areas with minimal oversight.
  • Design and conduct custom primary research using a broad range of qualitative and quantitative methods to understand user behaviors, attitudes, needs, and experiences.
  • Lead both generative studies that uncover opportunities and evaluative studies that assess concepts, designs, and product experiences.
  • Manage and prioritize research plans in ambiguous, fast-changing environments while aligning multiple stakeholders around key questions and research priorities.
  • Synthesize complex findings into clear, actionable insights and recommendations that can directly influence product and business decisions.
  • Communicate research outcomes through compelling storytelling and present findings to product teams and leadership to build alignment and drive action.
  • Define and track the impact of research on product and business outcomes.
  • Mentor fellow researchers and contribute to raising research quality and standards across the team.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of applied UX or user research experience, with strong expertise across both generative and evaluative research methods.
  • Experience owning research for a product area independently and driving projects from initial questions through actionable recommendations.
  • Strong command of multiple qualitative and quantitative research methodologies.
  • SaaS and/or e-commerce research experience is a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to synthesize research into clear, actionable insights that inform product decisions, supported by a portfolio or relevant work samples.
  • Strong storytelling, communication, and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Experience mentoring researchers and contributing to the development of research practices and standards.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Psychology, Cognitive Science, Design, a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Comfortable working autonomously within a remote-first, internationally distributed team.
  • Strong ability to collaborate across time zones and work outside regular business hours approximately 2–3 times per week when needed.
  • Mandarin proficiency is strongly preferred.

Benefits:

  • Base salary of USD $134,000–$179,000 or CAD $123,000–$160,000.
  • Remote-first and hybrid-flexible work arrangements.
  • Flexible working hours depending on time zone and role requirements.
  • Healthcare coverage starting from day one.
  • Retirement plans with company matching.
  • Unlimited paid time off.
  • Annual learning and wellness benefit.
  • Monthly book benefit.
  • Career progression and professional development opportunities.
  • In-office lunch and commuter benefits for employees working from hub locations.
  • Inclusive, collaborative, and values-driven international work environment.
  • Opportunity to work on products shaping the global e-commerce experience.
  • Meaningful autonomy and opportunities to grow as a researcher and mentor.
