Job Description

Lenox Hill Neighborhood House, widely recognized as one of New York’s premier human services providers, is a settlement house founded in 1894 that provides an extensive array of effective and integrated services—social, educational, health, housing, mental health, nutritional and fitness—which significantly improves the lives of 16,000 people in need each year, ages 3 to 103, on the East Side of Manhattan. Salary: $67,500 – $67,500

Reporting to the Director of Communications, the Communications Associate will be a critical part of the Communications, Development and Administration teams and will collaborate with others across the Neighborhood House to support and advance the overall organizational communications efforts and strategies.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Travel to all Neighborhood House sites to photograph, record and document programs and events
  • Draft creative content that is representative and inclusive of the clients and communities we serve, such as email newsletters, print newsletters, flyers, brochures, invitations, fundraising materials, press releases, letters, special projects
  • Draft social media content for various platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, BlueSky)
  • Produce video content for various platforms and audiences
  • Maintain and update organizational website and monitor overall web presence
  • Assist with SEO enhancement, including website keyword research, Google Ads and Analytics
  • Identify and contact potential press outlets to cover Neighborhood House programs, stories and events
  • Catalog internal photo/video collection, including vast collection of archival photos and content
  • Provide administrative, operational and service support for special, community and volunteer events
  • Complete all other responsibilities and duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree or higher, preferably in communications, marketing, media or journalism
  • Minimum one year of relevant professional experience
  • Strong written communication skills and attention to detail
  • Proactive and flexible with strong interpersonal and organizational skills, high tolerance for multitasking, ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Experience with a variety of technological systems and skills, including Microsoft Office Suite, photography, video editing and production, graphic design, website maintenance
  • Strong social media knowledge and skills
  • Thrive in an engaged and vibrant community setting
  • Passionate commitment to social justice and to our mission

Occasional evening and weekend responsibilities will be required due to the nature of the role and the breadth and depth of our programming and events.
