Position Title: Housekeeping Utility Runner / House Attendant

Reports To: Housekeeping Supervisor

Department: Housekeeping

Shift: Day, Swing and Graveyard

Role: The Housekeeping Utility Runner / House Attendant supports the housekeeping team by ensuring all operational areas are clean, organized, and fully stocked. This role is essential in maintaining efficiency, cleanliness, and overall guest satisfaction by responding quickly to team needs and assisting room attendants with supplies, linens, and general upkeep of public and back-of-house spaces. Adheres to all Company, Safety and Department policies and procedures. Fosters teamwork and provides excellent guest service, anticipates guest needs to exceed guest expectations. Builds brand loyalty by living the JW Marriott Core Values.

Qualifications:

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED
  • Experience: Previous housekeeping experience in a hotel, resort, or similar environment
  • Skills:
    • Clear and effective verbal communication skills to interact professionally with guests and team members
    • Strong attention to detail to consistently uphold cleanliness and organization standards across all areas
    • Solid time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks, stay organized, and work independently
    • Dependable with a strong work ethic and the ability to follow established procedures and safety guidelines
    • Ability to perform efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a positive, professional attitude
    • Basic problem-solving skills, particularly when addressing spills, hazards, or urgent operational needs
    • Physical stamina to stand, walk, bend, lift, and carry items for extended periods throughout the shift
    • Team-oriented mindset with the ability to collaborate effectively with housekeeping, maintenance, and other departments
  • Required:
    • Must be able to speak and understand basic English to ensure safe performance of job duties and effective communication with guests and team members, as permitted

Required Work Cards needed:

  • Valid Nevada Driver’s License

Key Responsibilities: Responsibilities include, but are not limited, to the following:

  • Distribute clean linens to assigned floors, storage areas, and housekeeping closets
  • Vacuum carpets in guest rooms and hallways; perform spot cleaning, extraction, and bonnet cleaning as needed
  • Complete high- and low-dusting projects, ensuring all guest room and hallway furniture is thoroughly detailed
  • Assist room attendants with deep cleaning tasks, including carpets, balconies, patios, showerheads, fixtures, furniture, sinks, and Jacuzzi tubs
  • Power wash or blow off guest room patios and balconies to maintain cleanliness and presentation
  • Clean and maintain guest room furniture using appropriate methods (extraction, steaming, or dry cleaning)
  • Strip, seal, and finish tile, marble, and other hard flooring surfaces
  • Remove soiled linens and trash from carts, hallways, linen lockers, and service areas
  • Keep stairwells and emergency exits clean, clear, and compliant with safety standards
  • Deliver and restock supplies for guests, room attendants, linen closets, and supply rooms
  • Maintain and service vacuum equipment, including cleaning units, replacing bags, and reporting or removing damaged equipment for repair
  • Transport and set up rollaway beds, cribs, refrigerators, and microwaves in guest rooms; return items to storage when no longer needed
  • Clean windows, doors, and other high-touch surfaces throughout the property
  • Move furniture within or between guest rooms as needed to support operations or cleaning
  • Properly store and return all chemicals, supplies, and equipment at the end of each shift or project
  • Ensure all equipment is maintained in safe working condition
  • Follow all OSHA guidelines for handling and disposing of biohazards and bloodborne pathogens
  • Report maintenance issues and safety hazards promptly and take appropriate action when possible
  • Provide general assistance to guests, including directions and responding to basic requests
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors or leadership

Work is performed in a (type of location, i.e., office, kitchen, restaurant, casino, etc.) environment and in other locations throughout the property. Must be tolerant to varying conditions of noise level, temperature, illumination and air quality. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. When on the casino floor, the noise level increases too loud. Additionally, smoking is permitted in casino areas consistent with Nevada state regulations, which are followed by the employer.

  • Interact professionally and courteously with management, fellow associates, and guests.
  • Communicate effectively in verbal interactions with guests and coworkers.
  • Sustain prolonged periods of standing and walking throughout the shift.
  • Perform frequent bending, reaching, and other physical movements required for room cleaning.
  • Transport, push, pull, and maneuver carts and equipment weighing up to 80 lbs.
  • Lift and carry items weighing up to 80 lbs. as needed.
  • Maintain coordination of eyes and hands to safely and efficiently perform cleaning tasks.
  • Operate standard housekeeping tools, equipment, and cleaning machinery.
  • Apply basic math skills for inventory counts and supply handling.
  • Read and accurately distinguish letters, numbers, symbols, labels, and written instructions.
  • Understand and comply with all Policies and Procedures, job expectations, daily memos, chemical labels (MSDS/SDS), and safety guidelines.
  • Work safely with and around cleaning chemicals, following all proper handling and PPE protocols.
