About Proper Voltage
Proper Voltage is unlocking the next generation of battery technology across robotics, data centers, and defense.
We're building intelligent battery systems that make advanced chemistries (sodium-ion, lithium-titanate, lithium-silicon) work in products that were never designed for them. Humanoid robots can upgrade power systems without redesigning their entire platform. Data centers get safer, cheaper backup power. Drones and autonomous vehicles get higher energy density without lengthy integration cycles.
If you want to work on hard engineering problems that matter this is the place.
Job Overview
We are hiring a Marketing Associate to join our small but growing marketing team that will act as our high-output execution layer.
This is a broad-scope role for someone early in their career who wants to learn marketing by doing it at full speed. You will work directly under our Marketing Lead to help ensure our marketing functions move faster, ship cleaner, and look better. The job is half craft and half execution, you will write, design, build, coordinate, ship work and manage vendors across every customer facing surface.
A glimpse at the day to day may look like writing a clean blog post in the morning, running a webinar at noon, and rebuilding a CRM workflow before you head home. You should be able to take feedback well, ask good questions, and find satisfaction in shipping things that work.
If you are ambitious about marketing as a craft and want to learn it under a strong senior operator at a company doing real work in a real market, this is sure to be a meaningful opportunity!
What you'll do
Content and copy
- Draft and ship blog posts, customer stories, social posts, newsletters, and product copy under the direction of the Marketing Lead.
- Maintain the content calendar and the production schedule for everything we publish.
- Help build and maintain sales collateral, including one-pagers, datasheets, pitch decks, and customer-facing assets.
- Keep our website current. Push new pages, update product information, and fix things that break.
Marketing operations
- Own the day-to-day operation of our marketing tools, including HubSpot or equivalent CRM, our email platform, our website CMS, and our brand asset library.
- Build and execute email campaigns, including nurture sequences, event invites, and product announcements.
- Keep our CRM clean. Tag, segment, and maintain the data hygiene that demand generation depends on.
- Maintain the marketing tech stack documentation so the team can move quickly without dropping context.
Events and vendors
- Coordinate event logistics from end to end, including registration, travel, swag, vendor management, and on-site execution at trade shows and customer events.
- Run point on external vendor projects (designers, freelancers, video producers, agencies) and keep them on brief and on schedule.
- Manage post-event follow-up, including outreach sequences, lead routing, and reporting.
Reporting and analysis
- Pull weekly and monthly performance reports across campaigns, channels, and pipeline.
- Build and maintain marketing dashboards that the team and leadership actually use.
- Surface what is working, what is not, and what needs attention. We want you flagging issues, not just reporting them.
Required Qualifications
- One to three years of professional marketing experience, or an exceptional recent graduate with strong internship experience.
- Excellent writer. You can take a technical idea and turn it into clean, useful, on-brand copy. (Writing samples or portfolio strongly preferred.)
- Detail-oriented. Things ship on time, formatted correctly, and proofread. People who work with you do not have to double-check your work.
- High output. You move fast and do not get stuck waiting for someone to tell you what to do next. You are someone who finishes things.
- Tool-fluent or tool-curious. You either already know tools like HubSpot, Webflow, Figma, Canva, and Notion, or you can learn them in a week without supervision.
- Coachable. You take feedback well, ask good questions, and do not repeat the same mistake twice.
- Comfortable working at startup pace. That means context switching, occasional fire drills, real ownership of your work, and operating in ambiguity without losing your composure.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience at a B2B, hardware, energy, deep-tech, or industrial company.
- Demonstrable writing samples or a portfolio (blog posts, social copy, email campaigns, landing pages).
- Direct experience coordinating a real event, such as a trade show booth, a customer summit, or a launch.
- Hands-on familiarity with CRM, marketing automation, and sales enablement systems.

This role will be a great fit for someone who lives these every day.

- Equity grant
- Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage.
- 401(k) program.
- Hybrid schedule based out of our Carlsbad, California headquarters.
- Professional development budget. We expect you to grow into a senior marketer over the next several years and we will invest in that growth.
