Job Description

Team Lead, Infra (Giger)

This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Team Lead, Infra (Giger) in France.

This is a high-impact leadership role at the intersection of platform engineering and developer experience, where you will guide a globally distributed team building one of the most critical internal infrastructure platforms. You will lead the evolution of a large-scale sandbox system that enables engineers to spin up production-like environments in minutes, accelerating development, testing, and deployment across hundreds of teams. The role combines hands-on technical depth with strategic leadership, requiring you to stay close to architecture and code while shaping roadmap decisions and engineering culture. You will operate in a highly dynamic environment managing one of the largest Kubernetes-based infrastructures, supporting thousands of nodes and tens of thousands of workloads. This position is ideal for an engineering leader passionate about distributed systems, developer productivity, and large-scale platform reliability.

Accountabilities:
  • Lead a distributed team of engineers, providing technical direction, architectural guidance, and day-to-day operational oversight.
  • Own and evolve the technical roadmap for the developer sandbox platform in alignment with broader organizational objectives.
  • Maintain and improve the stability, scalability, and reliability of a large-scale Kubernetes-based infrastructure platform.
  • Design and implement improvements to sandbox provisioning, resource efficiency, observability, and self-service capabilities.
  • Make key architectural decisions related to scalability, performance, cost optimization, and system resilience.
  • Manage on-call rotations and ensure strong incident response practices and operational excellence.
  • Collaborate closely with DevOps, DBAs, InfoSec, and other engineering teams to align infrastructure goals.
  • Drive cross-functional initiatives and ensure successful delivery of complex, multi-team technical projects.
  • Foster engineering excellence through code reviews, best practices, and continuous improvement in development and deployment workflows.
  • Build and nurture a strong engineering culture focused on collaboration, inclusion, ownership, and continuous learning.
  • Participate in hiring, performance management, and mentorship to grow and strengthen the team.
Requirements:
  • 10+ years of professional software engineering experience, with strong expertise in backend or systems programming (Node.js, TypeScript, Go, Python, or JavaScript).
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in infrastructure engineering, including Kubernetes, AWS/GCP, Helm, and GitOps practices.
  • 3+ years of leadership experience managing distributed engineering teams across multiple time zones.
  • Proven experience operating and scaling large Kubernetes environments (1000+ nodes, 30k+ pods).
  • Strong understanding of distributed systems design, high availability architectures, and scalability principles.
  • Experience with databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL in production environments.
  • Familiarity with event-driven architectures using systems such as Kafka or NATS.
  • Experience designing or extending Kubernetes-based platforms, including operators, controllers, or custom primitives.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to align technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to balance hands-on engineering with strategic leadership and team development.
  • Bonus: experience building internal developer platforms or working with tools such as Okteto, Gitpod, or similar.
Benefits:
  • Competitive compensation with long-term incentive opportunities such as stock grants (depending on role and location).
  • Flexible remote-first working model with optional co-working space access.
  • Opportunity to work on one of the largest and most advanced Kubernetes-based infrastructure platforms.
  • Exposure to high-scale distributed systems and cutting-edge developer experience tooling.
  • Strong emphasis on ownership, autonomy, and technical decision-making.
  • Inclusive, global, and collaborative engineering culture.
  • Career growth opportunities in a rapidly scaling international technology organization.
  • Additional perks and benefits tailored to employment type and country.
