Technical Support Engineer, Java & Scala

In this position, you will act as a key technical support resource, helping distributed teams investigate production issues, validate system behavior, and ensure smooth operational continuity across global regions. You will work closely with modern technologies including Scala, Java, Kafka, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, and cloud-native observability tools. The role offers strong exposure to API-driven architectures, event-based systems, and integrations with major advertising and marketing platforms. This opportunity is ideal for professionals who enjoy troubleshooting complex technical challenges, improving operational workflows, and collaborating across engineering, product, and support teams in an international remote-first environment.

Accountabilities:
  • Provide technical application support and operational backup coverage for backend systems, APIs, and audience workflow processes.
  • Investigate production and staging incidents using logs, metrics, database queries, Kafka states, and observability platforms.
  • Analyze and troubleshoot issues related to API integrations, authentication flows, synchronization failures, and external platform connectivity.
  • Support platform integrations with advertising and social media ecosystems such as Meta, LinkedIn, Google Ads, TikTok, Reddit, Pinterest, and similar services.
  • Perform operational checks and remediation tasks following established runbooks and support procedures.
  • Collaborate with engineering, DevOps, and cross-regional teams across India, Europe, and the US to ensure rapid issue resolution.
  • Document technical findings, incident summaries, troubleshooting steps, and escalation details clearly and accurately.
  • Contribute to maintaining system reliability, operational transparency, and continuous support process improvement.
Requirements:
  • 3+ years of experience in application support, production support, technical operations, backend QA, SRE-lite, or similar technical support roles.
  • Strong understanding of REST APIs, JSON structures, HTTP protocols, and backend request/response flows.
  • Hands-on experience investigating production issues through logs, monitoring dashboards, and system metrics.
  • Practical experience with MongoDB, SQL, and PostgreSQL for troubleshooting and data validation purposes.
  • Familiarity with Kafka or event-driven architectures and messaging systems.
  • Basic understanding of Kubernetes-based applications, containerized environments, and operational support practices.
  • Experience using observability and monitoring tools such as Kibana, Grafana, Prometheus, Graphite, or equivalent platforms.
  • Knowledge of Scala and Java backend systems, with familiarity in JVM-based environments.
  • Understanding of authentication concepts including OAuth, access tokens, refresh tokens, and permission management.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Docker, or related DevOps tooling is a plus.
  • Excellent troubleshooting, analytical thinking, communication, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with globally distributed teams in a remote environment.
