About the role
The Yard Worker is a hybrid role that plays a vital part in maintaining efficient yard operations and ensuring the timely delivery of materials and equipment. This position is responsible for organizing and managing the yard, coordinating product deliveries, and supporting overall inventory and logistics functions. It requires close collaboration with the service manager, production teams, and delivery crews to stage materials, transport products to job sites, and assist with fleet and facility maintenance. The role places strong emphasis on safety, accuracy, and continuous improvement in all operational processes.
What you'll do
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe yard environment, free of debris.
- Track and manage materials in all stages (raw, in-process, and finished).
- Stage materials for production and job site delivery according to schedule.
- Perform routine cycle counts and assist with inventory tracking across departments.
- Ensure all returned materials are accounted for and stored correctly.
- Load and unload trucks, trailers, and barges as needed.
- Tag and account for used lifts and equipment accurately.
- Continuously identify and implement process improvements to eliminate inefficiencies.
- Safely transport Summerset and Lifetime products to job sites using company vehicles.
- Work with service managers to verify correct materials and products are loaded for delivery.
- Load and secure materials and equipment for transport to and from job sites.
- Assist with receiving and unloading inbound deliveries as needed.
- Comply with DOT regulations, company safety policies, and all traffic laws.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in general maintenance, logistics, inventory management, or construction-related fields
- Valid CDL Class A license with a current medical certificate
- Forklift experience strongly preferred
- Experience with inventory control and material tracking
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and work both independently and as part of a team
- Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions and performing physically demanding tasks

Working Conditions and Physical Efforts:
- Work involves walking, talking, hearing, lifting, pushing, pulling, and/or carrying up to 100 pounds occasionally in addition to using material-handling equipment.
- May be required to stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Vision abilities require close vision assessments. Moderately loud noise levels in the work environment.
- Ability to perform labor-intensive tasks repeatedly and stand for long periods.
- Steel-toe boots are required.
