About the RoleAs the Director of Safety Operations, this leader will own and build all aspects of the safety culture, compliance, risk management, investigations, reporting, and loss prevention programs and capabilities across the organization. This person will actively identify and analyze potential opportunities to reduce risk, build policies and processes that bolster safety in our operations, and partner with cross-functional teams to implement solutions. This person will track performance and maintain an accountability system that ensures the well-being of teammates and the broader Veho community.
It will be critical for this leader to analyze potential trends and areas of opportunity, and develop a framework that promotes safety, loss prevention, and incentivizes consistent adherence to and development of policies, execution of processes, and reporting of potential issues.
This role will define the process for coordinating injury and/or incident response efforts and investigations.
This person will report directly to the Head of Supply Chain Operations. This person will work directly with our ground operations, transportation and logistics, live operations, driver and marketplace, delivery experience, operations excellence, systems security, and legal teams to continuously improve our operations and ensure that we continue building a safe and secure environment for our teammates and the broader Veho community.
Responsibilities Include:
  • Own and continuously enhance Veho’s culture of safety, programs, and capabilities across all operational levels.
  • Elevating your team’s performance and skills to meet the current and future needs of our operations, while always ensuring the well-being, engagement, and development of your teammates
  • Building policies and processes that ensure the safety of our teammates and the broader Veho community, and comply with all applicable regulations
  • Identifying and analyzing potential risks and hazards associated with our operations, and leading continuous improvement efforts to reduce risk
  • Partnering with Program Management and our Process and Industrial Engineering team to ensure processes incorporate the appropriate safety frameworks for our operating teams
  • Partnering with Learning & Development to provide our teams with the training required to implement
  • Partnering with Procurement to ensure tools required to adhere to policies and execute process are provided
  • Ensuring policy is understood and acknowledged across all levels of the organization
  • Partnering with operating teams to ensure consistent policy adherence and process execution
  • Maintaining open communication channels to address questions, concerns, and feedback
  • Measuring performance and adherence to policies and process
  • Conducting audits to identify non-compliance and implement solutions to reduce risk
  • Partnering with local leadership to strengthen safety in our operations at the local level
  • Coordinating safety-related incident response and investigation, as needed
  • Partnering with cross-functional senior leadership to define and clearly communicate responsibilities and accountability frameworks that support our culture of safety
  • Design and implement AI-powered workflows that meaningfully support the business

What You Bring:
  • Demonstrated passion for ensuring the safety and well-being of teammates, in and outside of reporting relationships
  • 7-10 years of progressive safety leadership experience in warehouse and/or shipping and logistics operations
  • Demonstrated track record of continuous improvement and exceptional project management
  • Deep understanding of local, regional, and federal regulations (e.g., OSHA, FMCSA) and inherent drive to exceed the minimum/set the new standards
  • First principles approach to building and implementing policies and processes by working directly with teammates and identifying potential gaps
  • Ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization and build trust
  • Strong commitment to cross functional partnership as the means to successfully build improvements
  • Analytical rigor and ability to communicate complex issues in clear, succinct, and digestible ways
  • Proficient in Google suite and/or Microsoft Office suite
  • Willingness to work flexible hours to support our safety operations
  • 50% travel to site locations required

Compensation$180,000-$190,000 per yearThe pay range is subject to the discretion of the Company. Additionally, Veho offers a competitive equity package, comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage as well as other benefits such as 401k and generous PTO for full-time roles.
