Cloud DevOps Engineer Technical Mentor

This opportunity is ideal for experienced cloud and DevOps professionals who are passionate about mentoring and helping learners grow their technical expertise. In this role, you will support a global online learning community by guiding students through advanced cloud computing and DevOps concepts, project work, and technical challenges. You will lead interactive sessions, provide personalized coaching, and contribute to creating engaging learning experiences in cutting-edge technologies. The position offers the flexibility to work part-time as an external contractor while collaborating with an international network of technical experts. With a strong focus on innovation, knowledge-sharing, and learner success, this role allows you to make a meaningful impact on the future of tech education while continuing to grow professionally in a rapidly evolving industry.

Accountabilities:
  • Deliver personalized 1:1 mentoring sessions to support learners with technical questions, coursework, and cloud engineering projects.
  • Review learner submissions and identify areas for improvement prior to mentoring sessions when applicable.
  • Lead technical deep-dive sessions covering cloud computing, DevOps methodologies, AWS services, and infrastructure best practices.
  • Prepare and present educational materials, including slide presentations and practical examples, to enhance learner understanding.
  • Conduct project walkthroughs to explain evaluation criteria, common challenges, and successful implementation approaches.
  • Host group Q&A sessions through video conferencing or online collaboration platforms to address learner concerns and encourage engagement.
  • Support learners in understanding real-world use cases, troubleshooting strategies, automation practices, and scalable cloud architectures.
  • Contribute to a positive, collaborative, and motivating learning environment for a global audience of technology professionals and students.
Requirements:
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in Cloud Engineering, DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering, or related technical fields.
  • Strong expertise in AWS Cloud services including EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, DynamoDB, VPC, IAM, SNS, and Elastic Beanstalk.
  • Solid understanding of cloud computing principles, networking, autoscaling, load balancing, and cloud security best practices.
  • Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code tools, particularly AWS CloudFormation.
  • Proficiency with containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions or similar deployment automation tools.
  • Familiarity with serverless architectures and monitoring solutions such as Amazon CloudWatch.
  • Strong troubleshooting, automation, and problem-solving capabilities in distributed cloud environments.
  • Passion for mentoring, coaching, and helping others succeed in their learning journey.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly.
  • Ability to work independently and flexibly as a part-time external contractor.
