About the Role

The Commercial Account Manager is responsible for servicing and retaining a commercial lines book of business while supporting producers and clients throughout the policy lifecycle. This role serves as a primary client contact and is responsible for renewal management, coverage analysis, policy servicing, and identifying opportunities to strengthen client relationships through account rounding and coverage enhancement discussions. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong commercial insurance knowledge, excellent client service skills, and the ability to manage multiple accounts in a fast-paced environment.

Builds and maintains strong client relationships through responsive communication, professional service, and proactive account management.Effectively manages the commercial renewal process, ensuring accuracy, timely completion, and appropriate coverage recommendations.Identifies coverage gaps, risk exposures, and opportunities for account rounding or coverage enhancements that support client retention and growth.Maintains organized and accurate documentation, policy records, and workflow activity in accordance with agency and carrier standards.Collaborates effectively with producers, carriers, underwriters, and internal team members to deliver positive client outcomes and support business objectives.Demonstrates strong commercial insurance knowledge and sound judgment when addressing client needs, market conditions, and service-related challenges.Consistently provides a high level of professionalism, accountability, and customer service while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.Contributes to overall agency retention, operational efficiency, and client satisfaction goals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Serve as a primary point of contact for commercial clients, responding to service requests, policy questions, and coverage needs in a timely and professional manner.Manage the renewal lifecycle, including exposure review, carrier marketing coordination, quote review, and binding activities.Build and maintain strong client relationships through proactive communication, annual coverage reviews, and ongoing account management.Identify coverage gaps, risk exposures, and opportunities for account rounding, cross-selling, and coverage enhancements during client interactions and renewal discussions.Partner with producers, carriers, and internal team members to negotiate coverage terms and support retention and growth objectives.Prepare and process policy transactions, including applications, endorsements, certificates, audits, cancellations, reinstatements, invoicing, and other servicing activities in accordance with agency and carrier guidelines.Review policies and renewal information for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with carrier underwriting requirements.Maintain accurate and organized client records, documentation, and activity tracking within agency management systems.Research and resolve client service issues, billing concerns, and coverage questions while providing professional and solution-oriented support.Maintain working knowledge of commercial insurance products, carrier guidelines, market trends, and underwriting practices.Support agency retention, client experience, and operational goals through collaboration, responsiveness, and consistent service delivery.

Client Relationship Management & Communication

Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills with the ability to establish trust and maintain long-term client partnerships.Professional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain complex coverage concepts clearly and effectively.Ability to manage sensitive client interactions with professionalism, responsiveness, and sound judgment.

Commercial Insurance Knowledge

Working knowledge of commercial insurance products, coverages, carrier markets, and underwriting practices.Ability to analyze policies, identify coverage gaps, and recommend appropriate solutions based on client exposures and operational needs.Familiarity with agency management systems, carrier portals, Microsoft Office Suite, and related insurance technology platforms.

Account Management & Problem Solving

Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to evaluate risk exposures and resolve complex service issues.Ability to prioritize competing deadlines, manage multiple accounts, and maintain accuracy in a fast-paced environment.Detail-oriented with strong documentation, policy review, and workflow management capabilities.

Consultative Sales & Relationship Growth

Ability to identify opportunities for account rounding, cross-selling, coverage enhancements, and referral generation through ongoing client interactions.Collaborative approach to supporting retention, client satisfaction, and overall account growth objectives.Confidence working with producers and carriers to support renewal strategy and coverage negotiations.

Professionalism & Collaboration

Demonstrates professionalism, integrity, discretion, and accountability in all client and business interactions.Ability to work effectively with producers, underwriters, carriers, and internal teams in a collaborative environment.Adaptable and solution-oriented with the ability to respond effectively to changing client needs and market conditions.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Risk Management, Insurance, or a related field preferred.Equivalent combination of education and relevant commercial insurance experience will be considered.

Experience

Minimum of two years of Commercial Lines insurance experience required.Experience managing commercial client accounts, renewals, policy servicing, and carrier interactions preferred.Working knowledge of commercial rating platforms, agency management systems (e.g., Applied Epic, EZLynx, AMS360), carrier portals, Microsoft Office Suite, and related insurance technology platforms

Certificates, Licenses, and/or Specialized Requirements

Active Property and Casualty insurance license required; Texas license preferred.Ability to obtain and maintain additional state licenses as required.Professional insurance designations (CISR, CIC, CRM, or similar) are a plus.
