Wage and Benefits

$15.50 per hour + tips (increase 7/1 tbd). Benefits include student-friendly scheduling, merchandise discounts and Employee Assistance program. After required waiting periods benefits may also include paid holiday, vacation, personal time and sick pay, paid volunteer time off; 401(k) pension plan.

Hours

This is a part time hourly position. Work schedule vary according to store needs and at least 12 hours total availability Monday-Friday with some weekends and home football game days as necessary

Primary Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve coffee and tea beverages according to established recipes
• Operate espresso machines, grinders, and other equipment efficiently and safely.
• Greet customers, take orders, and provide friendly, courteous service.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work area, including counters, machines, and utensils.
• Restock supplies and inventory as needed to ensure smooth operations.
• Accurately maintain inventory records according to procedure to include pricing product, check-in and transfers, and conducting periodic inventory counts
• Manage payment transactions and operate the point-of-sale system accurately.
• Assist in opening and closing duties, including cleaning and setting up the cafe.
• Educate customers about menu options and make recommendations based on their preferences.
• Adhere to health and safety guidelines to ensure food safety and hygiene standards.
• Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient service and a positive customer experience.
• Carry out Duck Store's customer service expectations through all work activities
• Support Duck Store and cafe team by completing ther duties as assigned

Position Requirements

Experience and Skills Required

• Previous experience as a barista or in food service is a plus
• Ability to operate espresso machines and other coffee-making equipment
• Strong customer service skills with willingness and ability to create and maintain relationships with regular store customers
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to stand for extended periods
• Ability to lift up to 30 pounds
• Availability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays
• Use of reasoning, independent judgment, and decision making skills to accurately apply variable inventory, sales, and marketing concepts in processing transactions in fast-paced environments
• Ability to follow recipes and instructions accurately
• Strong attention to detail and cleanliness
• Friendly and positive attitude
• Excellent record of attendance, reliability and initiative in previous employment.
