Senior CMDB Engineer - ServiceNow (HAM/SAM)

This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Senior CMDB Engineer - ServiceNow (HAM/SAM) in India.

This role plays a key part in strengthening enterprise IT operations by ensuring high-quality configuration and asset data across a global ServiceNow environment. You will be responsible for designing and evolving CMDB, Hardware Asset Management (HAM), and Software Asset Management (SAM) capabilities that support accurate, service-aware decision-making. The position focuses on improving data integrity, governance, and automation across complex IT ecosystems. You will work closely with infrastructure, cloud, procurement, and security teams to align configuration data with operational and business needs. The environment is highly collaborative, process-driven, and centered on continuous improvement of platform maturity. This is a high-impact role where strong ServiceNow expertise directly influences IT efficiency, compliance, and service reliability.

Accountabilities:
  • Design, configure, and maintain ServiceNow CMDB, HAM, and SAM modules in alignment with governance and platform best practices.
  • Enhance Discovery and Service Mapping capabilities to improve configuration data accuracy, visibility, and relationship mapping across IT assets and services.
  • Ensure CMDB alignment with the ServiceNow Common Service Data Model (CSDM), maintaining consistency in service and application representations.
  • Develop and manage integrations between ServiceNow and external systems using APIs, IntegrationHub, MID Servers, and web services.
  • Monitor and improve CMDB health through governance controls, data normalization, reconciliation, and certification processes.
  • Support hardware and software asset lifecycle management, including procurement, deployment, compliance tracking, and retirement.
  • Build and maintain dashboards, reports, and analytics to support CMDB governance and asset management insights.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve CMDB, HAM, SAM, and Discovery-related issues, including data inconsistencies and integration failures.
  • Contribute to automation initiatives using Flow Designer and ServiceNow workflow capabilities to improve operational efficiency.
  • Support platform upgrades, testing, and release activities related to CMDB and asset management functionality.
Requirements:
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with ServiceNow CMDB, HAM, SAM, Discovery, or related platform modules.
  • Strong understanding of CMDB architecture, CI relationships, Service Mapping, and configuration governance principles.
  • Solid knowledge of ServiceNow CSDM framework and service modeling best practices.
  • Experience implementing and supporting Hardware Asset Management and Software Asset Management processes.
  • Hands-on experience with ServiceNow integrations using REST APIs, IntegrationHub, MID Servers, or similar technologies.
  • Strong understanding of ITIL processes, including Configuration, Asset, Incident, Change, and Problem Management.
  • Experience with reporting, dashboards, and data quality management within ServiceNow.
  • Knowledge of enterprise IT infrastructure including cloud, servers, networks, virtualization, and software lifecycle management.
  • Ability to work in Agile/Scrum and structured SDLC environments.
  • ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA) certification required.
  • Preferred certifications include ServiceNow CMDB, HAM, SAM, or Discovery certifications, along with ITIL Foundation (v3 or v4).
  • Strong analytical mindset, attention to detail, and ability to manage complex, interdependent systems.
