Job Description

POSITION INFORMATION

The Transportation Operations & Compliance Intern supports Warren Transport’s Safety and Operations teams by assisting with Hours of Service (HOS) monitoring, driver compliance support, operational reporting, and transportation technology systems. This internship provides hands-on exposure to DOT regulations, fleet operations, ELD systems, compliance auditing, and driver support within the trucking and logistics industry.

This role is designed to provide real-world experience in transportation operations, safety compliance, logistics technology, and cross-functional business operations while supporting day-to-day fleet compliance initiatives.

The internship is expected to run from June through September.

BASIC RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist with daily Hours of Service (HOS) auditing and compliance monitoring.
  • Review driver logs and identify potential violations, missing information, or data discrepancies.
  • Support the monitoring and resolution of unassigned drive time.
  • Assist with auditing reports related to driver activity, pre-trip inspections, arrivals/departures, and fuel reporting.
  • Help prepare weekly and monthly compliance summaries and operational reports.
  • Respond to driver and internal team questions related to ELD systems and HOS processes.
  • Assist with onboarding setup for new drivers in Omnitracs and related transportation systems.
  • Support orientation preparation and compliance-related training materials.
  • Monitor device health issues and assist with basic troubleshooting efforts.
  • Audit DOT inspection entries for accuracy and completeness.
  • Assist with inventory tracking and processing of Omnitracs equipment and returns.
  • Participate in operational and compliance meetings as assigned.
  • Maintain confidentiality of company, driver, and operational information.
  • Complete special projects and additional operational support duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in:
    • Business
    • Supply Chain Management
    • Transportation or Logistics
    • Operations Management
    • Safety Management
    • Related Field Preferred
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
  • Proficiency in working with technology and Microsoft Office programs, including Excel and Word.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Prior transportation or logistics experience is a plus but not required.

WORKING CONDITIONS

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.
