Job Description
Position Summary:
• Ensures adherence to organizational policies and objectives across all engineering projects, initiatives, and processes.
• Collaborate with the Engineering Manager and / or Plant Engineer to oversee complex projects from inception to completion and support in the daily execution of capital projects, driving successful outcomes and alignment with company goals.
Essential Duties and Requirements include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
• Plans, develops, coordinates, and directs a variety of complex engineering projects.
• Identifies, plans, executes and facilitates projects from concept through installation under moderate supervision. Coordinates teams of technicians as necessary for completion of projects.
• Qualifies and installs new equipment and performs vendor and site acceptance testing to meet government standards.
• Performs concept analysis of capital projects for future projects development.
• Prepares equipment, process, safety and materials specifications and conducts technical analysis of vendor proposals.
• Provides engineering assistance to personnel within the Company as necessary.
• Represents the Company in communication with other organizations to resolve questions, plan, and coordinate work.
• Ability to understand the motives and objectives of the Plant. Excellent communication/interpersonal skills required to effectively carry out responsibilities and to develop and motivate others.
• Must use communication skills extensively coordinating activities with higher levels of management; other departments (production, maintenance, financial, sales, marketing); along with contractors and equipment and materials suppliers.
• Position requires regular exercise of decision-making, problem solving, and policy or procedure interpretation skills.
• Ability to handle multiple responsibilities with effective interpersonal skills and to effectively interface with others inside and outside the Company is required.
• Plans, conducts, and directs product engineering projects to support manufacturing processes which are difficult and complex in nature, necessitating the application of engineering knowledge, or associated design and drafting effort.
• May originate and apply new and unique engineering methods and procedures.
• Evaluates or assists in the evaluation of new manufacturing equipment or processes.
• Position requires ability to work in a normal office and production plant with welding, machining, and fabrication operations environment.
• Must have experience to handle considerable pressure meeting technical or production goals on a short deadline or within a tight budget.
• Conduct feasibility studies, site visits, and risk assessments, troubleshoot complex engineering issues, and developing creative solutions.
• Must use communication skills extensively, coordinating activities with higher levels of management; other departments (production, maintenance, finance, sales, marketing); along with contractors and equipment and materials suppliers.
• Serve as a member of the Plant's Operations Team and other cross-function teams as necessary; contribute through exercise of strong technical knowledge, counsel, experience, etc., toward the plant meeting its current and long-range business strategies and plans.
• Responsible for recognizing and reporting food safety and employee safety issues
• Stay up to date with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies.
• Guide and mentor junior engineers, promoting professional growth

Qualifications

• Strong technical background with production/packaging machinery.
• Excellent interpersonal and team skills.
• Experience with Project planning and scheduling.
• Experience in the Repair and Maintenance of production/packaging machinery.
• Experience with work planning and scheduling using CMMS systems.
• Experience with identifying, purchasing and receiving spare parts.
• Experience with Project planning and scheduling.
• Experience with Training personnel.
Education and/or Experience
Bachelor’s degree in engineering Field.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in packaging/processing technologies and Project Management in a food manufacturing environment preferred.

Work Environment
The work environment consists of approximately 40% office work and 60% work in a production/plant environment.

The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate, however, high noise levels will be experienced when installing or monitoring projects in production areas.
