Job Description
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Conducts innovative scientific investigation by developing theories and devising scientific methods and procedures to apply scientific principles, theories and research in projects related to the mission of UTMB. Committed to the discovery of new innovative biomedical and health services knowledge leading to increasingly effective and accessible health care. Uses advanced techniques and modification and extension of theories, precepts, and practices in a specified field.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
This position supports day-to-day scientific operations on two active external awards: an NIH R01 focused on musculoskeletal rehabilitation and an Neilsen Foundation-funded project on mobile seating pressure technology for wheelchair seating assessment.
The responsibilities include 1) participant recruitment and coordination, 2) data collection and management, and 3) protocol oversight, data analysis, and preparation of manuscripts and progress reports on NIH-governed and funder-specific timelines.
The position requires independent management of deliverable timelines across two concurrent funded projects.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Advanced degree in physical therapy, rehabilitation science, or a closely related field (DPT, MS, or PhD) with at least 3 years of clinical and/or research experience in musculoskeletal rehabilitation or physical therapy.
- Ph. D, M.D, D.O., or D.V.M in related field and three years of related experience with Peer Review Publications.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Demonstrated experience with human subjects research protocols and data management.
- Ability to contribute to manuscript preparation and regulatory/progress reporting.
- Experience in wheelchair seating assessment or seating pressure technology research.
- Familiarity with NIH reporting requirements and extramurally funded research operations.
- Prior experience managing participant coordination and data collection across multiple concurrent projects.
- Background in pressure injury prevention or upper extremity rehabilitation research.
- Familiarity with IRB protocols and research compliance procedures.
