Government Affairs Intern Position Description
Position Summary
The Government Affairs Intern will support the Government Affairs team in monitoring public policy developments, conducting legislative research, preparing briefing materials, and assisting with advocacy initiatives that impact the company's media, publishing, digital, and technology businesses. This internship offers hands-on exposure to the intersection of media, business, and public policy while providing opportunities to work with internal stakeholders and external organizations.
The ideal candidate is intellectually curious, highly organized, possesses strong research and communication skills, and has an interest in government, politics, public policy, media, or corporate affairs.

Government Affairs Intern Position Description
Position Summary

This internship offers hands-on exposure to the intersection of media, business, and public policy while providing opportunities to work with internal stakeholders and external organizations.
The ideal candidate is intellectually curious, highly organized, possesses strong research and communication skills, and has an interest in government, politics, public policy, media, or corporate affairs.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor federal, state, and local legislative and regulatory developments affecting the media, technology, journalism, intellectual property, privacy, AI, advertising, telecommunications, and digital platforms.
- Research public policy issues and summarize findings into concise briefing documents.
- Assist in preparing presentations, reports, policy memos, and executive briefing materials.
- Support the planning and coordination of meetings with policymakers, trade associations, and industry organizations.
- Track legislative activity and maintain policy databases and reporting tools.
- Assist with drafting correspondence, talking points, and meeting summaries.
- Conduct stakeholder research on elected officials, government agencies, advocacy groups, and industry organizations.
- Help coordinate logistics for conferences, policy events, and government affairs initiatives.
- Perform additional research and administrative projects as assigned.
Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Political Science, Public Policy, Government, Communications, Journalism, Business, Economics, Law, or a related field.
- Strong interest in public policy, government relations, media, or technology.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong analytical and research abilities.
- Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google Workspace.
- Experience conducting online research and synthesizing complex information into concise summaries.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous internship or leadership experience in government, legislative offices, public affairs, advocacy, media, or corporate environments.
- Familiarity with Congress, state legislatures, or regulatory agencies.
- Understanding of current issues affecting media, technology, journalism, AI, privacy, copyright, or digital advertising.
- Experience with policy research or legislative tracking tools is a plus.
