Software Engineer, Athelas Home

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Software Engineer, Athelas Home based in Brazil.

This is an opportunity to build software that contributes directly to the future of healthcare technology and patient care.
You will work on an innovative medical device platform combining software, hardware, and machine learning capabilities.
The role focuses on developing reliable, scalable systems that support advanced diagnostics and improve healthcare accessibility.
You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across engineering, operations, quality, and regulatory functions.

You will help transform complex healthcare challenges into practical technology solutions used by patients and clinicians worldwide.

Accountabilities:
  • Develop and enhance backend and frontend services supporting a connected medical device platform.
  • Design, build, and maintain scalable software systems with a focus on reliability, performance, and maintainability.
  • Translate product requirements into effective technical solutions while collaborating with cross-functional teams.
  • Implement cybersecurity best practices throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Partner with engineering, operations, quality, and regulatory teams to ensure software systems meet operational, security, and compliance requirements.
  • Work with technologies including Python, Flask, React, PostgreSQL, Kubernetes, and Docker to deliver high-quality software solutions.
  • Diagnose and resolve technical issues, improving system stability, performance, and user experience.
  • Establish and promote best practices for software development, testing, deployment, monitoring, and code quality.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of infrastructure, development processes, and production environments.
  • Collaborate with hardware, embedded systems, and machine learning teams to support product evolution.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Proven experience as a software engineer with strong proficiency in Python.
  • Experience designing and managing data pipelines and working with PostgreSQL or similar relational database systems.
  • Strong knowledge of containerization and cloud technologies, including Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Experience building, scaling, and maintaining production-grade software environments.
  • Strong understanding of system monitoring, alerting, reporting, metrics tracking, and software reliability practices.
  • Ability to think strategically while maintaining a hands-on builder mindset focused on delivering impactful solutions.
  • Strong product-oriented approach with attention to user experience and customer needs.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work effectively in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and professional growth.
  • Experience with embedded software development, Linux-based IoT systems, hardware interfaces, or medical devices is a plus.
  • Knowledge of computer vision models, machine learning workflows, model deployment, or optimization for healthcare applications is considered an advantage.
