Job Description

District Sales Manager - Southeast

Job Type: Full Time (Exempt)

Location: Novi, MI

Reports to: Vice President of Sales

Overview:

Brooks Utility Products is one of America's most established electric utility manufacturers, uniting EJ Brooks & Company, Meter Devices Company, and Ekstrom Industries into the most comprehensive product line portfolio in the industry. We are the leading utility manufacturer of seals, locking equipment, adapters, meter sockets, meter-base testing equipment, test switches, and utility enclosures — all engineered around utility safety, security, and productivity.

The industry is entering a generational build cycle. Grid hardening and resiliency investment, an accelerating AMI upgrade wave, and unprecedented load growth from data centers, electrification, and reshored manufacturing are driving demand straight through our core product lines — while rising energy theft and tightening grid-security mandates put our sealing and locking equipment front and center. This is the electric super cycle, and Brooks sits at the heart of it.

Brooks Utility Products is seeking a highly motivated, self-sufficient District Sales Manager to oversee sales, strategy, and customer relationships within the Southeastern US states of Virginia, Maryland, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia and Florida.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead all sales aspects with every electric, gas, and water utility assigned within the territory.
  • Generate customer interest in Brooks’ products.
  • Develop a growth strategy to increase sales in the region.
    • Develop expert level product and category knowledge, be a true consultative partner to our customers.
    • Resolve any customer issues that come up by providing world-class customer service.
    • Manage relationships with distributors.
    • Build lasting, long-term customer and partner relationships.
    • Supply information to customer service/inside sales to effectively serve your customers; customer service generates quotes and processes orders.
    • Work with Brooks engineers and product managers to develop new products based upon customer need or request.
    • Submit reports, data requests, and fulfill other assignments from management as needed in support of your territory.
    • Travel to customers within the territory on a regular basis, and to any industry events that impact your region.

    Qualification and Competencies:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or electrical engineering is required (Electric Engineering Degree preferred)
  • 3-5 Years experience in B2B sales, preferably technical product-oriented sales.
    • Demonstrated track-record of success in sales with 2+ years of quota attainment.
    • Highly motivated and desire to be self-sufficient while focusing on achieving results.
    • Strong communication skills – listens well, speaks well, writes well.
    • Eager to learn and become a subject matter expert.
    • Positive, can-do attitude
    • Accountable, possessing an ability to follow through on tasks, assignments, and requests from customers and teammates.
    • Diplomatic mindset for communication in-person, by phone, and email
    • Customer service-focused mentality
    • Analytical, using data to objectively assess your own performance, to serve customers, to ascertain customer buying trends, and to guide your own growth strategy.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and either Teams or Zoom

Travel: Able to travel approximately 25% for overnight travel and up to 50% total when including same-day drive markets. Very rare weekend travel may be required to attend meter schools and other events that begin on Mondays.
