Job Description
Paraprofessional – Charter School
Location: Westside Jacksonville, FL
Legacy Solutions, Inc. is seeking a dependable, energetic, and student-focused Paraprofessional to support students and teachers at one of our charter school partners located on the Westside of Jacksonville, Florida.
The ideal candidate enjoys working with children, is patient and encouraging, and is committed to helping students succeed academically, socially, and behaviorally.
Position Summary
The Paraprofessional will work under the direction of classroom teachers and school administration to provide instructional, classroom, and student support. This position may involve working with individual students, small groups, or the entire classroom based on the needs of the school.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Assist the classroom teacher with daily instructional activities and classroom routines.
Provide one-on-one and small-group academic support to students.
Reinforce lessons and skills taught by the classroom teacher.
Assist students with classwork, assignments, and learning activities.
Support students who may need additional academic or behavioral assistance.
Help maintain a safe, structured, positive, and engaging learning environment.
Assist with classroom management and reinforce school and classroom expectations.
Monitor students during classroom activities, transitions, lunch, arrival, dismissal, and other assigned activities.
Assist teachers with preparing instructional materials and organizing the classroom.
Utilize technology and educational resources to support student learning when appropriate.
Maintain student confidentiality and demonstrate professionalism at all times.
Communicate effectively with teachers, administrators, students, and other school personnel.
Follow all school policies, safety procedures, and directions provided by school administration.
Perform other student-support duties as assigned.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required.
College coursework, Associate degree, or Bachelor's degree is preferred.
Previous experience working with children or K–12 students is highly desirable.
Previous paraprofessional, teacher assistant, tutoring, childcare, mentoring, or youth-development experience is a plus.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to follow teacher and administrative directions.
Patience, flexibility, dependability, and a positive attitude.
Ability to work effectively with students with varying academic, behavioral, and developmental needs.
Basic computer and technology skills.
Background & Compliance Requirements
Successful candidates must meet all applicable school and employment requirements, including background screening and Level 2 fingerprinting prior to placement.
Candidates must also complete all required Legacy Solutions and charter school onboarding and compliance requirements before beginning the assignment.
