Job Description
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Sr Lead Network Development Engineer based in India.
This is a senior technical leadership opportunity focused on building and scaling highly reliable, automated cloud networking infrastructure. You will architect, deploy, and support network solutions across major public cloud environments, including AWS, Azure, and GCP. The role combines deep networking expertise with infrastructure-as-code, Kubernetes networking, automation, and operational excellence. You will influence network architecture, lead complex technical initiatives, and help shape the direction of a growing global network engineering function. You’ll work in a highly autonomous environment where critical thinking, ownership, and innovation are strongly valued. The role also offers opportunities to mentor engineers, modernize network operations, and contribute to a large-scale SaaS platform serving global customers.
- Design, deploy, automate, and support highly scalable network infrastructure across AWS, Azure, and GCP, ensuring reliability, security, performance, and availability.
- Serve as a senior technical authority for cloud networking, firewalls, VPNs, DNS, BGP, TCP/IP, TLS, hybrid routing, security groups, and related network technologies.
- Architect and support Kubernetes networking and production workloads, including CNI implementations, ingress and gateway controllers, service discovery, DNS, and NetworkPolicy.
- Develop and maintain network infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code and automation technologies such as Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible, Chef, or equivalent platforms.
- Establish and execute cloud networking roadmaps aligned with enterprise architecture and public-cloud design standards.
- Participate in architecture and design reviews, providing technical guidance and network leadership to engineering teams.
- Drive an automation-first approach to eliminate operational toil, improve scalability, and strengthen service ownership and accountability.
- Evaluate and implement monitoring, observability, capacity, performance, and availability solutions for global network infrastructure.
- Lead complex troubleshooting and incident resolution, including packet capture analysis, traffic-flow diagnostics, and root-cause investigation.
- Help expand the global network engineering function by onboarding and mentoring engineers, providing technical leadership, and contributing to team direction and standards.
- Take ownership of network projects and technical issues through to successful resolution, ensuring delivery against timelines and quality expectations.
- Stay current with emerging networking, cloud, Kubernetes, automation, and AI-enabled engineering practices, incorporating relevant technologies into network operations.
- Participate in an on-call rotation and provide occasional travel support when required.
- 10+ years of professional experience in networking or infrastructure engineering, including experience within enterprise-scale or SaaS environments.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
- Expert-level knowledge of enterprise and public-cloud networking, including firewalls, VPNs, DNS, BGP, TCP/IP, TLS, VPCs, hybrid routing, and cloud security constructs.
- Strong hands-on experience with AWS, Azure, and/or GCP networking and cloud-native infrastructure.
- Proven experience managing production Kubernetes environments, with deep expertise in Kubernetes networking, CNI implementations, ingress or gateway controllers, service discovery, DNS, and NetworkPolicy.
- Experience operating across both traditional data-center and public-cloud environments, as well as supporting multiple Linux distributions.
- Strong programming or scripting capabilities in Golang, Python, Java, Ruby, or an equivalent language.
- Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code and automation tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, Chef, Ansible, or Spacelift.
- Advanced network troubleshooting capabilities, including packet captures, traffic-flow analysis, performance diagnostics, and root-cause analysis.
- Demonstrated ability to lead complex technical projects, make sound architectural decisions, and take ownership from design through delivery and production support.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, communication, and critical-thinking skills, with the ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively.
- A proactive mindset and passion for operational excellence, automation, continuous improvement, and solving complex technical challenges.
- Ability and willingness to actively use AI tools and methodologies to improve engineering productivity, innovation, and workflow efficiency.
- DNS and mail-hosting experience, security and certificate-management knowledge, or relevant networking, Kubernetes, operating-system, and cloud certifications would be advantageous.
- Two company-wide paid wellness days each year to support rest and well-being.
- Paid birthday time off during your birthday month.
- Up to 40 hours of paid volunteer time off annually.
- Employee Assistance Program providing confidential, 24/7 support for emotional, financial, legal, and work-life needs.
- Business travel assistance and protection for eligible work-related travel.
- Employee referral bonus opportunities.
- Location-specific benefits tailored to the employee’s primary work location, which may include comprehensive medical and dental coverage, retirement or pension programs, and life or accident protection.
- Opportunities for continuous learning, technical certifications, professional development, and access to training resources.
- An autonomous, collaborative, and inclusive working environment that encourages innovation, ownership, and critical thinking.
- Opportunities to work with large-scale cloud infrastructure, modern networking technologies, Kubernetes, automation, and AI-enabled engineering practices.
