Job Description

Network Engineer

Alianza is seeking a full time Network Engineer to join our technology team with responsibility for all things related to our network infrastructure, both in the cloud and on premise. The successful candidate will have a strong background in traditional networking as well as a strong desire to learn and implement a software and virtualization based network infrastructure.

Duties:

  • Assume responsibility for the current network infrastructure, including multiple active data centers and cloud-based technologies
  • Design, architect, configure, and manage a next generation highly-available and scalable network
  • Work with vendors through PoC and bake-offs to decide on the best solutions for Alianza
  • Work with customers to configure private circuits, SDN connectivity, GRE tunneling, and BGP sessions
  • Maintain all network infrastructure with necessary updates
  • Maximize network transparency with proper monitoring & alerting tools
  • Report on network performance and reliability metrics to key stakeholders
  • On-call responsibilities to ensure availability

Qualifications:

Network

  • 5+ years experience designing, configuring, and managing IP networks
  • Expertise with all things Juniper Networks, including routers, firewalls, switches, and eVPN
  • Experience implementing multi-homed BGP environments and MPLS
  • Expertise with high-performance/high-scalability network architecture
  • Expertise designing, configuring and managing highly available networks (zero downtime)
  • Experience with (or serious interest in) SDN and building next-gen cloud based virtual networks, including Megaport, and AWS
  • Expertise with hands-on management of networking devices, including routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, etc. as well as OSFP, BGP, ISSI, etc.
  • Experience with virtualization and cloud computing a plus

Team & Communications

  • Must have a strong sense of urgency and ownership
  • Ability to communicate effectively with senior leadership, customers, and team members
  • Strong documentation skills for writing methods of procedure, building diagrams, etc
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects with changing priorities and requirements
  • Vendor management skills
