GL Accountant at Sterling Construction Company, Inc. – Sacramento, California

We are a public works construction company and we are currently looking for a GL Accountant for the office in Sacramento, CA

Responsibilities:
In this role, you'll be utilizing your technical accounting expertise to provide the following support:

• Monthly GL, Job Cost & Cash Management journal entries including accrual entries of all types
• Balance sheet account reconciliations monthly including Bank Reconciliations
• Month-end, quarter-end and year-end closing support
• Balance Sheet and Income Statement fluctuation analysis
• Monthly expense variance analysis
• Inter-company transactions and reconciliations
• Ensure accuracy of financial statements in accordance with GAAP
• Assist in managing Fixed Assets
• Property, Sales and Use Tax Returns
• Notes Payable and Lease schedules
• Monthly Union Report preparation

Qualifications and Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting preferred
• Construction accounting experience preferred
• Strong technical accounting background including Financial and Cost Accounting
• At least five year’s general ledger accounting experience is required
• Strong Excel skills required
• Viewpoint Construction Package preferred
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills
• Strong organizational skills
• Team player and have ability to work independently
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including ability to interact effectively with all levels throughout Company organization
