As Shop Manager are responsible for servicing and repair of all equipment, as manager you are responsible for all shop mechanics and staff.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Responsible for oversite of all shop employees, equipment, and facility.
  • Responsible for inspecting and maintaining Yard/Shop/Parts Room repairs, organization and cleanliness
  • Conducts machine services as necessary
  • Assist mechanic in repairs as necessary
  • Oversee BIT’s are complete and up to date
  • Ensure equipment readiness after repairs or services
  • Tracks and monitors machine services and repairs in company software program
  • Oversees and/or assists in completing Yard/Facility inspections, practices and special projects
  • Completes compliance forms and inspections
  • Conducts minor facilities repairs/office support
  • Assists in tracking compliance paperwork (haz-waste records, or other)
  • Maintains and oversees part inventory
  • Checks in and signs out parts and consumables management
  • Goes on parts runs/deliveries (in, out, or to vendors or Mechanic/Operator in needed.)
  • Conducts inventory invoice coding and posting in systems.
  • Conducts inventory cycle counts
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions
  • Ability to perform heavy physical labor exposed to weather elements, noise, dust, and temperature extremes (hot/cold)
  • Ability to independently lift 50 – 75lb
  • Ability to operate computer and/or other related equipment
  • Ability to follow safe work practices and wear all required personal protection equipment for the task (safety glasses/shield, hardhat, safety boots and gloves)
  • Must demonstrate the ability to integrate work across relevant areas, develop the business and services to enhance customer satisfaction and productivity, manage risks appropriately, manage information, and provide exceptional service to internal and external customers.
  • Must demonstrate effective decision making, results delivery, team building, and the ability to stay current with relevant technology and innovation
  • Ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions and deal with challenges/issues
  • Must demonstrate strong ethics, interpersonal skills, and the ability to effectively manage stress and engage in continuous learning.
  • Ability to obtain forklift certification within 90 days, if not already certified
  • Ability to absorb and retain formalized training
  • Ability to work overtime if necessary.

Education and/or Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 3+ years of experience
  • Must have a good driving record
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license
