Curriculum Lead – Selective Entry & Scholarship Exams in Melbourne, Victoria at Contour Education

Victoria's Selective Entry and Scholarship exams have no published syllabus, and they change every year. We're hiring a Curriculum Lead to own how Contour TestPrep teaches Mathematics, English and Writing for them.

You'll take a curriculum that already works, make it world class, and build what doesn't exist yet, working closely with the Head of Victorian Selective Entry and Scholarship. Own all three subjects and it's full time. Exceptional in one or two? Apply anyway. We'd rather have a world class specialist than a good generalist.

For many of our families, selective entry or scholarship is not an extra, it is their dream. They have invested deeply in giving their child a chance at a school that could change their future.

Yet there is no published syllabus, clear roadmap or reliable way to judge what preparation works. Families are often left paying for generic lessons and shortcuts without knowing whether their child is improving.

We exist to light that path. We build the underlying skills, not quick fixes, and use diagnostics, regular mocks and progress tracking so every family knows where their child stands and what to do next.

We've grown to 400+ students across seven campuses and online, we're expanding into Scholarship, and we're about to run our biggest intake yet this November. In five years, when families talk about the best selective entry and scholarship preparation in the country, we want it to be ours, built on the curriculum you've helped to perfect.

Contour is built by students, for students.

• Own the source of truth. Build the Curriculum Bible, map exactly how these exams test your subject, and track where students go wrong.
• Make the resources world class. Upgrade subject outlines, workbooks, homework, workshops, mocks and worked solutions, and build what is missing across Scholarship and younger year levels.
• Close the loop. Collect feedback and performance data on every resource and after every real exam, then use it alongside educational research to keep improving.
• Teach. Teach or assist at least one class, so you see everything you make land with real students.
• Make an impact from day one. In your first fortnight, complete an intensive Melbourne onboarding, audit every resource and set up how success will be measured. Over the following month, ship the resources needed for the November launch. By day 90, you will have resources finalised eight weeks ahead of delivery, a revamped diagnostic, and a system for improving every resource using real student data.

• Strong curriculum foundations. A degree in Mathematics, English, Education or a related field; at least two years of teaching, tutoring or curriculum-building experience; and a demonstrated ability to create high-quality learning resources.
• A practical, student-facing approach. Ability to complete intensive in-person onboarding in Melbourne, teach or assist at least one class, and start in October.
• Relevant specialist experience. Experience with selective entry, scholarship or high-ability students, and ideally writing items for aptitude or selective-style tests.
• Evidence-led thinking. A data and research mindset, with the curiosity to test what works rather than rely on opinion.
• Modern resource-building skills. Confidence using AI to draft, generate and quality-check resources at scale, alongside classroom experience with Years 5–9 students.
• A builder’s mindset. You want to create something new and make it exceptional, learn quickly from feedback, and keep raising the standard.
• High standards and real conviction. You think deeply about the best way to teach—not just the acceptable way—and believe education can better develop students’ reasoning, not simply improve test scores.

• Ownership & Autonomy - Take full ownership of your subject’s curriculum, with the freedom and trust to make the calls that matter—without corporate bureaucracy or slow-moving committees.
• A Genuine Partnership - Work closely with the person building the program, collaborating in person and online to create something exceptional.
• Mastery & Pride - Become the expert who sets the standard for how students prepare for Victoria’s selective entry and scholarship exams.

• First fortnight: an intensive week in Melbourne learning Contour's pedagogy inside out, then audit every resource, sharpen the spine, and set up how we measure what's working.
• The next month: ship everything students need for our November launch. Upgrade existing resources and build new ones, fast and error free
• By day 90: resources finished and reviewed 8 weeks before they reach students, the diagnostic revamped, and every resource improving off real student data.

1. Apply with your CV, 1 to 2 samples of learning resources you've created (attached to your application), and a short written answer, under 300 words: what's broken about how students prepare for these exams, and what would you change?
2. Complete a short technical task.
3. Interview, including a live resource review.
