Job Description
Own meaningful matters. Develop real courtroom judgment. Build the kind of practice that makes you a stronger lawyer.
The Law Office of Parag L. Amin, P.C. (“LawPLA”) is growing its litigation team and looking for an experienced attorney who wants something increasingly difficult to find in private practice: meaningful ownership of sophisticated matters, direct access to decision-makers and clients, room to exercise judgment, and a genuine opportunity to grow in responsibility, skill, and compensation as the Firm grows.
Our practice includes business litigation and employment defense matters that require more than task execution. We want attorneys who enjoy understanding the whole case: seeing the issues early, building strategy with the end in mind, communicating intelligently with clients, developing the record deliberately, and moving matters toward resolution or trial with purpose.
If you have spent enough time in litigation to know that you are capable of more than handling one piece of someone else's case, this may be the opportunity to do it. You will have meaningful responsibility for your own matters while working directly with the Managing Partner, Managing Attorney, and an experienced support team. Depending on your experience, that can include case strategy, substantive motion practice, discovery, depositions, direct client counseling, mediation and ADR preparation, and first- or second-chair trial opportunities. We are looking for someone who wants increasing ownership—not someone who simply wants a larger volume of assignments.
We also care about what you are trying to build professionally. LawPLA has been recognized by the Los Angeles Times as a Top Workplace in Southern California, and we want to remain a place where ambitious lawyers can do excellent work without disappearing inside a hierarchy. The Firm is intentionally growing, embraces technology and new ways of practicing law, and values people who bring ideas rather than simply follow precedent.
This is a role for an attorney who already has meaningful litigation experience and is ready to use it. We will expect sound judgment, excellent writing, dependable case ownership, strong client communication, and disciplined execution. What you can expect in return is substantive work, access to leadership, professional development, increasing responsibility, and an opportunity for your contribution to matter—to the clients, to the Firm, and to your own career.
Benefits:
Benefits include health coverage as well as a vacation and paid time off policy to support work-life balance after the probationary period of 90 days is completed
Production bonuses tied to billable-hours performance and matter throughput, with top performers having the opportunity to push past $200,000 in total compensation
INDIVIDUAL APPLICANTS ONLY. NO AGENCIES. PLEASE DO NOT CONTACT THE FIRM DIRECTLY. FOLLOW THE APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS PROVIDED IN THIS JOB POSTING.
Compensation:$125,000 - $145,000 yearly
Responsibilities:
In this role, you will:
- Take meaningful ownership of business litigation and employment defense matters rather than handling one isolated piece of someone else’s case.
- Understand each matter as a whole: what happened, what matters legally and strategically, where the risks are, what the client needs to understand, and what should happen next.
- Help shape case strategy and understand how decisions made today affect the eventual resolution, negotiation, or trial.
- Handle substantive motion practice, discovery, depositions, mediation and ADR preparation, and direct client counseling based on your experience and readiness.
- Have opportunities to develop meaningful first- and second-chair trial experience.
- Work directly with the Managing Partner, Managing Attorney, clients, and an experienced support team rather than disappearing inside a large hierarchy.
- Exercise judgment and autonomy, with increasing responsibility as your capability and confidence grow.
- Build the record deliberately, anticipate issues before they become problems, and keep matters moving with purpose.
- Communicate with clients as an advisor, not simply as a reporter of events, by helping them understand risk, options, strategy, and next steps.
- Contribute ideas about how legal work can be performed more intelligently, efficiently, and effectively, including through thoughtful use of technology.
- Continue developing your advocacy, judgment, autonomy, client relationships, and professional range rather than simply accumulating additional years of practice.
- Have the opportunity for greater responsibility and financial upside as the value of your contribution to the Firm grows.
We will expect:
- Excellent legal writing and analytical ability.
- Strategic thinking and sound professional judgment.
- Disciplined ownership of matters and deadlines.
- Strong discovery and deposition skills.
- Clear, confident, and business-sensible client communication.
- The ability to recognize and surface risks early.
- Reliability, accountability, and consistent follow-through.
- A genuine interest in becoming a stronger and increasingly capable litigator.
Qualifications:
- J.D. from an accredited law school.
- Active California Bar license in good standing and a clean disciplinary record.
- 4+ years of business litigation and/or employment defense litigation experience.
- Proven ability to handle discovery and depositions independently.
- Strong command of California civil procedure and evidence.
- Excellent legal writing, research, and oral advocacy skills.
- Self-directed, detail-oriented, and effective in a hybrid environment (remote work with periodic in-office collaboration).
- Professional, steady, and high-integrity in all interactions with clients, opposing counsel, courts, and firm staff.
- Strong litigation judgment—able to translate legal leverage into timely, business-sensible outcomes.
- Clear, client-ready communication skills, including the ability to explain risk and strategy without unnecessary heat or ambiguity.
- High ownership bias: accountable for outcomes, deadlines, and follow-through.
- Proficient with Microsoft 365, PDF/document tools, e-signature platforms, and modern matter-management workflows.
