Job Summary
Providence Christian Preparatory School is seeking a knowledgeable, passionate, and Christ-centered Social Science Teacher to inspire students in grades 6–12 through engaging instruction in history, civics, government, economics, geography, and related social science disciplines.

The successful candidate will create a rigorous and engaging learning environment that promotes critical thinking, civic responsibility, historical understanding, and academic excellence while integrating biblical principles and a Christian worldview. The teacher will challenge students to analyze historical events, understand diverse cultures, evaluate primary and secondary sources, and develop the knowledge and skills necessary to become informed citizens and servant leaders.

This position requires a commitment to Christian education, student achievement, professional growth, and collaboration with colleagues, students, and families.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Social Science Instruction:
Teach middle and high school courses in U.S. History, World History, Civics, Government, Economics, Geography, and related social science subjects as assigned.
Develop and implement engaging lesson plans aligned with Florida Standards and school curriculum requirements.
Utilize primary and secondary source documents to promote historical inquiry and critical thinking.
Facilitate discussions, debates, simulations, research projects, and presentations that encourage student engagement and deeper understanding.
Integrate current events and real-world applications into instruction when appropriate.

Academic Assessment and Student Achievement:
Monitor student progress through formative and summative assessments.
Maintain accurate gradebooks and attendance records.
Analyze student performance data to identify learning gaps and implement intervention strategies.
Prepare students for state assessments and course-specific academic benchmarks.

Christian Leadership and Character Development:
Integrate biblical principles and Christian worldview perspectives into social science instruction.
Encourage students to examine historical and contemporary issues through the lens of faith, integrity, and servant leadership.
Model Christian character, professionalism, and ethical decision-making.
Participate in chapel services, prayer opportunities, and faith-based school activities.

Parent and School Community Engagement:
Maintain open and professional communication with parents regarding student progress and classroom expectations.
Participate in parent conferences, open houses, school events, and extracurricular activities.
Foster positive relationships with students, families, colleagues, and community stakeholders.

Professional Responsibilities:
Participate in faculty meetings, professional development activities, and school improvement initiatives.
Collaborate with fellow teachers to support interdisciplinary learning opportunities.
Maintain confidentiality and comply with all school policies and procedures.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal or School Administrator.

Job Skills & Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in History, Social Science, Education, Political Science, Government, or a related field.
Strong knowledge of American History, World History, Civics, Government, and Economics.
Effective classroom management and instructional skills.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency with educational technology and classroom management systems.

Preferred Qualifications:
Florida Teaching Certificate or Statement of Eligibility in Social Science (Grades 6–12).
Previous middle or high school teaching experience.
Experience in a Christian or private school environment.
Advanced coursework or degree in History, Political Science, Government, or related fields.

Christian Expectations:

Demonstrate Christian character and servant leadership.
Integrate faith and learning throughout instruction and student interactions.
Serve as a positive role model for students both inside and outside the classroom.

Essential Requirements:
o Level II background screening clearance
o Ability to speak for long periods of time
o Possess a strong passion for working with children.
o Must be reliable and able to maintain acceptable attendance.
o Must be coachable and willing to grow professionally
o Must be an active team player.
o Creative problem-solving skills.

Applicants must have the ability to participate in tasks that require moderate physical effort in light work, typically involving some combination of stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling, and which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of moderate weight (12-20 pounds).
Hours of work may vary. Typical schedules are set between the hours of 7:30 am and 5:00 pm Monday thru Friday.
