Vision Quest Solutions (VQS) is seeking an experienced Emergency Department Physician to provide comprehensive emergency medical care at Hopi Health Care Center (HHCC), an Indian Health Service facility serving the Hopi Reservation in northeastern Arizona.
This position offers the opportunity to practice broad-spectrum emergency medicine in a Critical Access Hospital caring for patients across the lifespan. The Emergency Department Physician evaluates, diagnoses, stabilizes, and treats acute illnesses and injuries while collaborating with nursing staff, consulting providers, and ancillary departments to ensure exceptional patient outcomes.
Essential Responsibilities- Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients presenting with acute medical, surgical, and traumatic conditions.
- Perform comprehensive emergency medical assessments and develop appropriate treatment plans.
- Stabilize critically ill or injured patients and initiate life-saving interventions.
- Perform emergency procedures including airway management, laceration repair, splinting, incision and drainage, and other procedures within the scope of practice.
- Interpret laboratory results, electrocardiograms (EKGs), and diagnostic imaging to guide clinical decision-making.
- Coordinate admissions, transfers, consultations, and follow-up care with specialists and receiving facilities.
- Collaborate with nursing staff and interdisciplinary team members to deliver safe, efficient, and patient-centered care.
- Maintain accurate and timely electronic medical documentation.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives while maintaining compliance with Indian Health Service policies, federal regulations, and evidence-based clinical practice.
- Respond effectively to medical emergencies involving patients of all ages.
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited institution.
- Active, unrestricted medical license.
- Current DEA registration.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Emergency Medicine or Family Medicine with significant Emergency Department experience.
- Minimum of two (2) years of recent Emergency Department experience.
- Ability to successfully complete federal credentialing and background requirements.
- Previous Indian Health Service (IHS), Tribal Health, VA, or federal healthcare experience.
- Prior rural or Critical Access Hospital experience.
- Prior locum tenens or travel physician experience.
- Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) certification preferred.
- Experience managing high-acuity patients across the lifespan.
