Title
Emergency Department Physician
Summary
Provide comprehensive medical care to patients presenting to the Northfield Hospital Emergency Department (ED). Obtain patient histories, perform physical examinations, develop differential diagnoses, and implement appropriate treatment plans. Communicate and collaborate with primary care physicians and consulting providers regarding admitted patients, arrange for the transfer of patients requiring a higher level of care when clinically indicated, and ensure the safe and appropriate disposition of all patients. Work cooperatively and respectfully with physicians, advanced practice providers, nursing staff, and other members of the healthcare team while maintaining the highest standards of professionalism, patient care, and ethical practice.
Compensation
We are committed to providing wage information for all open positions. This position is compensated at a single shift rate for all hours worked. The annualized compensation for a 1.0 FTE schedule is $316,800.
Practice Details
  • 1.0 FTE
  • Minimum of 1440 clinical hours per year; approximately 4 night shifts per month, 4 weekend shifts per month, and 3–4 holiday shifts per year
  • Expected to attend at least 50% of our quarterly staff meetings
Qualifications
  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited medical school.
  • Successful completion of an accredited residency program in Emergency Medicine. Candidates with residency training in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine and significant emergency medicine experience may also be considered, depending on department needs.
  • Current or eligible for unrestricted licensure to practice medicine in the State of Minnesota prior to employment.
  • Current registration with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and eligibility to prescribe controlled substances.
  • Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS), or the ability to obtain within the required timeframe.
  • Board certified or board eligible in Emergency Medicine (or applicable specialty if permitted by department requirements).
  • Ability to obtain and maintain medical staff privileges at Northfield Hospital + Clinics.
