JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
The Development Associate plays a key role in supporting VNA Health’s philanthropic efforts by ensuring exceptional donor stewardship, meticulous data management, and seamless event execution. This position requires someone who is both people-savvy and detail-oriented who can warmly engage with donors and guests while maintaining precision behind the scenes. Working closely with the philanthropy team, this individual will manage donor data in DonorPerfect, support high-impact events throughout the year, and assist in preparing reports and communications for leadership.
The Development Associate position is a non-exempt full-time position, working 30 hours per week Monday through Friday with occasional additional hours as needed. This position offers opportunity for growth within the Foundation Department.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Primary Responsibilities
- Support all aspects of fundraising and donor engagement efforts, with a focus on year-round event support and execution.
- Maintain accurate and timely donor data entry in DonorPerfect.
- Assist with acknowledgments and donor communications.
- Pull and prepare reports for leadership, including board members, and requests from the our Chief Officers.
- Collaborate with team members to assist in crafting language used in donor letters and other fundraising collateral (excluding grant writing).
- Manage and maintain inventory of printed materials and office supplies to ensure smooth operations and readiness for donor outreach
- Provide pre-event planning and day-of support ensuring all logistical details are handled with precision and professionalism. This role is required to attend and actively support all events throughout the year.Serve as a warm, trustworthy representative of the organization during public-facing events and donor interactions.
- Assist with general development team support, including occasional errands, donation pick-ups, and office tasks as needed.
- Serve as a reliable partner to the team, especially during high-volume event months, by managing essential details ensuring operations run smoothly.
- Collaborate with Marketing/PR, Volunteers, Finance, and Programs in support of fundraising activities.
- Manage financial processes including invoicing, expensing, credit card reconciliation, monthly reconciliation, and general ledger reporting, in partnership with Finance.
- Represent the organization articulately and effectively to stakeholders.

Position Qualifications
- Technologically proficient, with advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite (particularly Word and Excel), and donor database platforms; experience with DonorPerfect is highly desirable.
- Ability to quickly adapt to and learn donor databases and other platforms
- High-level interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Minimum of 2–3 years of event planning and coordination experience.
- Ability and willingness to work outside of normal business hours, including evenings and weekends, as required to support community fundraising events, donor engagement activities, and other organizational initiatives.
- High level attention to detail and accuracy.
- Experience working in a donors or client facing role.
- Willingness to support and collaborate with a team in a positive manner.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Valid driver’s license and access to an insured vehicle, in accordance with state and organizational requirements.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred; relevant professional experience may substitute for formal education.
