Job Description
Company: Markgraf Consulting LLC (CompleteCare Managed IT)
Location: Remote, Pacific Northwest (WA/OR), with periodic travel to client sites
Type: Full-time • Salaried (exempt)
Reports to: Managed Services Lead
Compensation: $60,000–$115,000, DOE
About Markgraf Consulting
Markgraf Consulting is a specialized firm delivering SAP Security & Basis consulting nationally and managed IT services (CompleteCare) across the Pacific Northwest. We run lean and premium — small team, high standards, real ownership at every seat.
The Role
We're hiring a Senior Systems Engineer to be the senior technical escalation point for our CompleteCare managed IT clients. You'll own network, server, and infrastructure work across multiple client environments — firewalls and switching, Active Directory, storage, backup, and power — and help set the technical standard for how we deliver.
This is a hands-on senior seat for someone who wants to own outcomes end to end, not pass tickets along.
What You'll Do
Escalation lead: Serve as the primary escalation point for network, server, and infrastructure incidents across client environments, and drive root cause and remediation.
Network & security: Configure and maintain firewalls, VPNs, switching, VLANs, and wireless (Fortinet, pfSense, UniFi). Manage ISP circuits, gateways, and failover.
Servers & identity: Administer Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS/DHCP, and remote access. Back up our Microsoft 365 support for Exchange Online, OneDrive, and licensing.
Storage, backup & continuity: Maintain SAN/NAS storage, backup and recovery, and UPS infrastructure. Take part in annual disaster recovery and incident response testing.
RMM standards & automation: Build and maintain baseline policies, monitoring, patching, and scripted remediation in NinjaOne.
Projects: Lead infrastructure projects — network refreshes, migrations, and new-client onboarding — from scoping through cutover, including scheduled after-hours change windows.
Documentation: Keep client environments, configurations, and runbooks current in Confluence, and log all work against tickets in ConnectWise.
Vendor coordination: Work with ISPs, hardware vendors, and our licensed low-voltage subcontractors.
Mentoring & compliance: Coach Tier 1/2 staff and support our SOC 2 security controls.
What You'll Bring
5+ years in systems administration, network administration, or infrastructure engineering, ideally at an MSP or in a multi-client IT environment.
Strong hands-on experience with firewalls and VPN (Fortinet preferred), switching, VLANs, routing, and wireless.
Solid Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, and DNS/DHCP skills.
Working knowledge of Microsoft 365 administration.
Experience with virtualization (Hyper-V, VMware, or KVM) and backup/DR fundamentals.
The ability to troubleshoot complex issues independently and explain them clearly to non-technical clients.
Disciplined documentation habits.
Ability to travel to client sites periodically and work occasional after-hours maintenance windows.
Nice to Have
Fortinet NSE, CompTIA Network+ or Security+, CCNA, or Microsoft certifications.
Experience with NinjaOne and ConnectWise PSA.
VoIP experience (3CX, SIP trunking).
PowerShell scripting and automation.
Linux or cloud (AWS / Azure) experience.
Exposure to SOC 2 or similar compliance frameworks.
Compensation & Benefits
Base salary: $100,000–$125,000 per year, depending on experience.
Health: Medical, dental, and vision insurance, plus life and supplemental coverage.
Retirement: 401(k) with company match.
Time off: 160 hours (20 days) of PTO per year to start, increasing with tenure, plus 10 paid company holidays.
Why Markgraf
You'll be the senior technical voice in a growing managed services practice, with direct access to ownership and real influence over the standards, tools, and processes we build. No bureaucracy and no layers of sign-off — just meaningful work with visible impact for clients who depend on us.
Markgraf Consulting is an equal opportunity employer.
