As Human Resource Business Partner at Samsic Assistance Canada Inc., you will play a pivotal role in delivering HR and labour relations support across our five Canadian stations.

This position requires a strong understanding of unionized environments, collective agreement administration and interpretation, Canadian employment legislation, and the unique operational requirements of the aviation industry.

Working across multiple locations and provinces, you will provide practical, business-focused HR advice to managers and supervisors while navigating multiple collective agreements and applicable federal and provincial legislation.

This role offers an outstanding opportunity for career growth, where you will collaborate with senior HR leadership to coach managers and supervisors, support labour relations initiatives, lead internal employee relations investigations, and drive talent engagement nationwide to foster a high-performance and thriving workplace culture.

Labour Relations, Collective Agreements:

  • Provide guidance and support to managers regarding the interpretation and application of multiple collective agreements, ensuring that workplace practices are consistent with applicable contractual and legislative requirements.
  • Support managers in effectively applying collective agreements while balancing employee relations considerations with operational requirements.
  • Support the administration, implementation, and communication of new and amended collective agreements.
  • Adapt HR practices and recommendations to the applicable legislative and collective agreement framework while maintaining consistency with company standards.

Frontline Advisory & Employee Relations:

  • Provide HR support across multiple provinces while ensuring compliance with the applicable federal or provincial employment legislation, company policies, and respective collective agreement obligations.
  • Provide day-to-day guidance, coaching, and counselling to managers and supervisors on employment terms, internal HR policy interpretations, and progressive discipline.
  • Provide managers with practical advice regarding the application and interpretation of collective agreements and applicable legislation.
  • Conduct objective and legally compliant investigations regarding internal employee relations matters across the organization.
  • Support the training of frontline managers on standard conflict resolution, progressive discipline, and compliant investigation processes.
  • Actively assist in promoting and executing HR programs, organizational initiatives, and all employee recognition events.

Talent Acquisition & Employee Experience:

  • Proactively assist with the full-cycle recruitment process for open administrative and management positions across Canada.
  • Manage the end-to-end onboarding workflow, including direct system data entry, contract generation, and addressing onboarding queries from users and managers.
  • Create, assess, and deploy modern HR tools designed to support managers and employees to foster an engaging culture focused on employee satisfaction and growth.

HRIS Optimization, Data Governance & Compliance:

  • Collaborate closely with ADP and Planet Online representatives to ensure optimal system implementation, process automation, and lead regular audits for data compliance.
  • Utilize ADP reporting and analytics tools, as well as Planet Online Dashboards, to assess, streamline, and optimize recurring HR processes.
  • Oversee the maintenance and absolute confidentiality of accurate employee records in strict compliance with data protection laws.
  • Provide support and guidance regarding worker's compensation claims, Occupational Health and Safety tracking, and benefits enrollment in collaboration with our administrative teams in the stations and the HR Manager, Wellness, Employee Experience and Leaves.

REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resource Management, Industrial Relations, or an equivalent field required.
  • Minimum 2 years of progressive HR experience required.
  • Demonstrated professional experience working in a unionized environment is required.
  • Demonstrated experience providing HR support across multiple locations and/or provinces in Canada is required.
  • Bilingual communication skills (English and French required).
  • Strong understanding of Canadian employment standards, human rights, occupational health and safety, labour relations, and workplace legislation.
  • Previous experience in the aviation industry is required. Experience within an airport, airline, ground handling, passenger services, ramp, baggage handling, or another aviation-related environment is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to interpret legislation and collective agreements and translate requirements into practical guidance for managers.
  • Strong tech-savviness; proficiency with ADP systems is highly preferred.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills (Excel: pivot tables, mail merge, macros).
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, handling multiple shifting priorities effectively under pressure.
  • CHRP (Chartered Human Resources Professional) designation completed or in progress is considered a strong asset.

This position requires written and oral fluency in English. The successful candidate will be required to support or collaborate with English-speaking colleagues or stakeholders nationally in our English-speaking provinces while at Samsic Assistance Canada Inc.
