Position SummaryThe Test Technician is responsible for setting up, operating, troubleshooting, and maintaining test equipment used to evaluate products, components, and systems. This role performs inspections and functional tests, documents results, identifies defects, and works with engineering, production, and quality teams to ensure products meet established specifications and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities- Set up and operate electronic, electrical, mechanical, or automated test equipment.
- Perform functional, performance, environmental, and reliability tests according to approved procedures.
- Read and interpret schematics, technical drawings, work instructions, and test specifications.
- Record test data accurately and prepare clear test reports.
- Identify, isolate, and troubleshoot product or equipment failures.
- Assist engineers with root-cause investigations and corrective actions.
- Calibrate, inspect, and perform routine maintenance on test equipment and fixtures.
- Report nonconforming materials or products and follow established quality procedures.
- Support the development and improvement of test methods, fixtures, and processes.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Follow company safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.
- High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree or technical certification in electronics, electromechanical technology, engineering technology, or a related field preferred.
- Previous experience in product testing, manufacturing, electronics, quality control, or a related technical environment preferred.
- Ability to use common test instruments such as digital multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, gauges, and data-acquisition equipment.
- Basic knowledge of troubleshooting methods and test documentation.
- Ability to follow detailed written and verbal instructions.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Basic computer skills, including spreadsheets and electronic recordkeeping systems.
- Ability to communicate effectively and work both independently and as part of a team.
- Experience with automated test systems, diagnostic software, or programmable test equipment.
- Knowledge of quality systems, calibration requirements, and electrostatic discharge controls.
- Familiarity with applicable industry standards and regulated manufacturing environments.
- Experience using manufacturing execution, enterprise resource planning, or quality management software.
- Ability to stand or sit for extended periods.
- Ability to use hand tools and handle small components with precision.
- Ability to lift and move up to 25 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment.
Work is typically performed in a laboratory, production, repair, or manufacturing environment. The employee may occasionally be exposed to electrical equipment, moving machinery, moderate noise, and materials requiring established safety precautions.
