Job Description
The Painter/Blaster performs abrasive blasting and industrial coating of ship components in accordance with MIL-SPEC, customer, quality, and safety requirements. The position operates and maintains commercial blast and coating booths, controls consumable use, documents work and inspections, and helps guide support staff to deliver safe, efficient, and consistent results. This employee will train on first shift before transitioning to second shift.
Key Responsibilities- Perform abrasive blasting and coating on ship components, ensuring work meets or exceeds applicable MIL-SPEC and customer requirements.
- Operate commercial blast and coating booths, including setup, routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and thorough cleanup.
- Lead and mentor support staff to promote safe, efficient, and high-quality operations.
- Monitor consumable use and replace materials at appropriate intervals to control cost without compromising quality.
- Produce consistent blast profiles and coating finishes that meet technical and appearance requirements.
- Interpret and apply MIL-SPEC and customer specifications accurately.
- Maintain clear and accurate records of completed work, inspections, consumable use, and equipment maintenance.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area in accordance with 5S standards.
- Use precision measurement and environmental monitoring tools accurately.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Train on first shift for several weeks before transitioning to second shift.
- Maintain excellent attendance, reliability, and punctuality to support production flow and team performance.
- Prior experience in industrial or marine blasting and painting, particularly in a commercial blast and coating booth environment.
- Strong working knowledge of MIL-SPEC coating processes and requirements.
- Skill in operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting blast and paint equipment.
- Leadership ability to guide, train, and support assistant staff.
- High attention to detail and a strong commitment to craftsmanship and finish quality.
- Strong organizational habits and a record of accurate documentation.
- Reliable personal transportation.
- Must be at least 18 years old at the time of application.
- Must be able to provide proof of U.S. Person status.
- No felony conviction involving theft, deception, or a violent crime within seven years of the disposition date.
- No felony drug conviction within three years of the disposition date.
- Must be willing to submit to a drug screen and background check.
This is an onsite manufacturing position performed in commercial blast and coating booth environments. The employee must follow established safety procedures, maintain the work area in accordance with 5S standards, and use all required personal protective equipment.
