Day in the Life: As an Accounting Manager, you'll serve as a trusted business partner to leaders across the Eastern Division. Your day may include reviewing project costs with managers, preparing financial reports for leadership, identifying opportunities to improve processes, and supporting budget and forecasting activities. You will work closely with operations, finance, HR, and other departments to drive sound financial decisions and business success.
Summary: The Accounting Manager will support the entire Eastern Division of the ecological services business and Financial Services group in executing the business plan by providing support for the establishment and operation of the financial and business. The position is responsible for the tracking and reporting of capital expenditures for the Eastern division projects, the creation, analysis and presentation of the financial statements in accordance with GAAP and for maintaining an effective internal control system over division assets. This person will work mostly in person in our Lawrenceville, Georgia office.
Key Responsibilities:
- Partner with the project managers to provide project cost reporting and analysis.
- Assist in developing, implementing, and monitoring internal controls and accounting processes for the businesses, the application of GAAP, and other corporate accounting policies.
- Assist in the design and implementation of financial systems for the business.
- Prepare financial analyses for Division Controller, Regional Directors, key process leaders, and Business Leader. This includes preparation of monthly financial statements and other managerial reports; researching variances between current year and prior year actual financial information; and comparing current year actual and budget financial information.
- Schedule, coordinate, manage and prepare all information for monthly closings and analyze and review monthly results with Division Controller, Regional Directors, Business Leader and other key managers.
- Collaborate closely with operations to influence the decision-making process within each business.
- Complete special projects to support Division Controller, Regional Directors, other key managers, and Business Leader. Special projects include pro forma financial analysis, capital project evaluations, cost analysis, etc.
- Schedule, coordinate, and manage all information obtained from working closely with Division Controller, Regional Directors, Business Leader, and other key managers to prepare annual and quarterly operating budgets and forecasts.
- Works in team environments with local employees, IS, HR, Finance, and other departments designing financial programs and processes.
- Perform monthly account reconciliations and balance sheet review.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
- Supervise administrative support staff
Education, Experience and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or Business Administration
- 5-7 years of broad accounting process and finance experience with a privately held company
- Hands on experience with monthly accounting and close processes
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and Excel
- Fixed asset accounting knowledge- both Tax and GL book
Preferred Skills:
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
- Construction accounting experience
- Discounted cash flow analysis skills
- Experience with Workday
- Knowledge of job costing accounting
