Job Summary: The Appraisal Review Consultant will be responsible for performing independent third-party reviews of commercial and residential real estate appraisals and evaluations on behalf of Young & Associates' financial institution clients. The Consultant will assess whether each appraisal is credible, well-supported, and compliant with USPAP, the Interagency Appraisal and Evaluation Guidelines, and the client's appraisal policy, and will prepare written review reports documenting findings and recommendations.

Supervisory Responsibilities: None initially. May assist in reviewing the work of junior reviewers and in managing the review pipeline as division volume grows.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Perform technical reviews of residential and commercial appraisal reports in accordance with USPAP Standard 3 and applicable regulatory guidance.

• Evaluate the appropriateness of the scope of work, valuation approaches, comparable selection and adjustments, capitalization and discount rates, market analysis, and highest and best use conclusions.

• Verify that appraisals satisfy client engagement requirements, regulatory requirements under FIRREA/Title XI, and the Interagency Appraisal and Evaluation Guidelines.

• Review evaluations and other alternative valuation products for adequacy and regulatory compliance.

• Prepare clear, well-documented written review reports that identify deficiencies, state whether the value conclusion is supported, and recommend corrective action where appropriate.

• Work with management to communicate review findings to client bank personnel and, when necessary, to the original appraiser to resolve deficiencies or obtain revisions.

• Maintain independence to safeguard the objectivity of the review process.

• Track assigned reviews and meet client turnaround expectations while maintaining quality standards.

• Stay current on USPAP updates, regulatory guidance, and market conditions affecting collateral values.

• Assist in the development and maintenance of review procedures, checklists, and report templates.

Requirements:

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Thorough working knowledge of USPAP and the Interagency Appraisal and Evaluation Guidelines.

• Strong understanding of the sales comparison, income, and cost approaches to value.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical findings to non-appraisers.

• Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.

• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.

• Ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines independently.

• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

• Experience with appraisal management or appraisal review software is a plus.

• Must be a self-starter and willing to learn.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor's Degree in a related field of study from four-year college or university, preferred.

• Minimum of two to four (2 to 4) years of residential real estate appraisal experience is required.

• Commercial real estate appraisal experience is a plus.

• Active state License or Certified Residential License is preferred but not required.

• Prior appraisal review experience, including reviews performed for financial institutions, is a plus.

• Experience with non-centralized workforce and hybrid working is strongly preferred.

• Experience in the Financial Institution Industry is a plus.

• Experience with special-purpose, agricultural, or multi-family property types is a plus.
