Job Description

Payroll Assistant

Job Summary

Reporting directly to the Senior Director of Disbursement Services and Labor Management, the Payroll Assistant is responsible for timely and accurate processing of employee compensation. Maintaining up to date employee payroll records.

Essential Functions

  • Processes payroll accurately and on a timely basis.
  • Responsible for maintaining employees’ record of payroll deductions including but not limited to tax withholding, garnishments and 401K.
  • Ensures accuracy of timecards before payroll processing.
  • Handles all payroll inquiries in a timely manner.
  • Processes all payroll corrections timely and accurately.
  • Works closely with HR to assure employees files are accurate and up to date
  • Works closely with Department Managers to ensure time keeping records are accurate.
  • Responsible for processing all physician payments.
  • Works closely with Accounts Payable to ensure all payroll deductions are remitted timely.
  • Responsible for quarterly and year end reconciliation.
  • Provides documentation and reports as needed.
  • Maintains knowledge of both the Payroll and AP systems
  • Other duties as assigned by Management.

Minimum Education/Certifications
High School Diploma.

Experience in MS Excel required.

FPC certification preferred.

Minimum Work Experience
2 years in Payroll.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

Non-Exempt / 37.5

Working Conditions

Ability to sit at a desk for long periods of time. Ability to effectively use a phone and personal computer. Must be able to work under deadlines and stressful conditions. The ability to work both under supervision and independently. Contact with other staff and public is required to be handled in a professional manner. Information must be organized, interpreted, evaluated, coordinated and explained in an accurate and timely manner.
