Job Description
Position Summary:
We are seeking a dependable and organized Transportation Coordinator to support day-to-day freight operations and carrier management. This role is responsible for tracking shipments, ensuring on-time delivery, obtaining proof of delivery (PODs), and maintaining strong communication with both internal teams and third-party carriers. The ideal candidate brings hands-on transportation experience, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Track and trace all outbound shipments to ensure timely pickups and deliveries
- Communicate daily with carriers, brokers, and warehouse teams to confirm status and resolve delivery issues
- Obtain and verify Proof of Delivery (PODs) and update internal systems accordingly
- Monitor and report on carrier performance and on-time delivery metrics
- Coordinate with third-party logistics providers (3PLs) and outsourced carriers for freight appointments
- Troubleshoot transportation delays, accessorial charges, and service failures
- Maintain shipment records and assist with freight billing or claims when needed
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure smooth transportation operations and customer satisfaction
Qualifications:
- 3-5 years of experience in logistics, transportation, or supply chain
- Strong knowledge of transportation processes, including track & trace and POD documentation
- Experience with Transportation Management Systems (TMS), ERP software, and carrier portals
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently or team setting, prioritize tasks, and adapt to shifting priorities
- Knowledge of routing, scheduling, and transportation modes
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, SAP, and general reporting tools
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with LTL/FTL/EXPEDITED/AIR FREIGHT shipments and working directly with carriers or 3PLs
- Understanding of freight terms, documentation, and basic compliance
- Ability to analyze and report on logistics KPIs to support operational efficiency and vendor performance
- Team-oriented with collaborative mindset
