Job Description
Basic Functions: The Occupational Therapist provides evaluation, treatment, and consultation services to help students develop fine motor, sensory processing, adaptive, and functional skills necessary for participation in school activities and daily routines. This role works collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team and families to support student growth and independence.
Essential Functions:
- Conduct Occupational Therapy Evaluations/Screenings in accordance with departmental policies.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans aligned with IEP
- Provide individual and/or group occupational therapy services
- Address fine motor, visual motor, sensory processing, self-help, feeding, and classroom participation skills
- Collaborate with teachers, related service providers, and families
- Provide classroom strategies
- Participate in CPSE meetings and team conferences as required
- Maintain documentation in compliance with program, state, and federal regulations
- Responsible for the direct supervision of Occupational Therapy Assistants and Occupational
- Responsible for environmental maintenance of equipment
- Other duties as assigned by Clinical Coordinator
Professional Responsibilities:
- Maintain currency of NYS licensing and registration and provide current copies of all credentials to Human Resources.
- Obtain continuing educational credits each year and submit proof of continuing education attendance to Human Resources.
- Participate, within the scheduled workday, in team meetings including department meetings, service team meetings including educational team meetings, and mandatory trainings. Participate in school “Open House” events at least once per year. Participation is measured by attendance and active involvement.
- Maintain compliance with program regulations, licensing standards, and professional code of ethics and conduct, including health and safety and infection control, and NYS professional standards and codes of ethics.
General Responsibilities:
- Maintain compliance with institutional regulations, state and federal requirements (e.g., HIPAA, corporate compliance, etc.), Inspire’s policies, and Inspire’s Code of Conduct.
- Participate in and cooperate with Inspire’s Corporate Compliance program and activities, including investigations or audits.
- Communicate changes in services, schedules, workdays and hours to the Clinical Coordinator
Additional Functions:
- Adheres to safety policies and procedures and promotes a safe workplace. Ensures that students receive services in a safe environment. Ensures department/classroom/program staff adheres to safety policies and procedures. Reportany potentially unsafe conditions to area administrator, Facilities, or Safety Committee Chair. Is accountable for prevention of accidents and injuries within the department and program.
- Follow current policies and procedures regarding agency, department and program services and requirements.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree (or higher) in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program
- New York State license and current registration as an Occupational Therapist
- Experience working with developmental disabilities and pediatric population preferred
- Strong verbal and written language skills, and demonstrated ability to work well within a team

Able to remain calm and exercise sound judgment when engaged in crisis intervention. Able to function in a stressful environment under time constraints.
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to walk, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
