Nuclear Medicine Technologist – PRN Weekdays

About the Role:

The Nuclear Medicine Technologist PRN Week Days plays a critical role in the diagnostic imaging team by performing nuclear medicine procedures that help physicians diagnose and treat various medical conditions. This position involves preparing and administering radiopharmaceuticals to patients, operating specialized imaging equipment, and ensuring the safety and comfort of patients throughout the process. The technologist will work on a PRN (pro re nata) basis during weekdays, providing flexible support to meet fluctuating patient volumes and departmental needs. Accuracy, attention to detail, and adherence to radiation safety protocols are essential to produce high-quality diagnostic images and maintain compliance with regulatory standards. Ultimately, this role contributes significantly to patient care by enabling timely and precise diagnostic information for clinical decision-making.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals to patients according to prescribed protocols and safety guidelines.
  • Operate gamma cameras, and other nuclear medicine imaging equipment to capture diagnostic images.
  • Monitor patients during procedures to ensure their safety and comfort, responding promptly to any adverse reactions.
  • Maintain accurate patient records, including dosage information, imaging results, and procedural documentation.
  • Adhere strictly to radiation safety standards and infection control policies to protect patients, staff, and self.
  • Collaborate with physicians, radiologists, and other healthcare professionals to optimize imaging procedures and patient outcomes.
  • Perform routine quality control and maintenance of nuclear medicine equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • Stay current with advances in nuclear medicine technology and best practices through continuing education.

The Nuclear Medicine Technologist utilizes technical skills daily to prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals safely and accurately, ensuring diagnostic quality images. Proficiency with imaging equipment and software is essential for capturing and processing images that assist in patient diagnosis. Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Completion of an accredited Nuclear Medicine Technology program.
  • Certification as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT) by the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) or equivalent.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Valid state licensure or certification as required by the state of employment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of radiation safety and regulatory compliance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a hospital or clinical nuclear medicine setting.
  • Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) and picture archiving and communication systems (PACS).
  • Strong interpersonal skills for effective patient interaction and multidisciplinary teamwork.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and continuing education.
