Associate Sales Director

This leadership role is centered on driving commercial growth and strategic sales performance across the North American pet food and animal nutrition market. You will be responsible for leading regional sales execution, developing high-impact customer relationships, and delivering revenue and margin targets across a diverse portfolio of accounts. The role combines strategic leadership with hands-on commercial engagement, requiring active participation in key customer negotiations and business development initiatives. You will lead and develop a high-performing sales and technical team while ensuring alignment with global strategy and local market needs. Acting as a key member of the regional leadership team, you will collaborate closely with marketing, R&D, operations, and technical services to deliver integrated customer solutions. This is a high-visibility role in a fast-paced, innovation-driven environment where customer value, scientific expertise, and commercial excellence intersect. Your work will directly shape regional growth and long-term market positioning.

Accountabilities:
  • Lead the overall sales strategy and execution across North America, ensuring delivery of revenue, gross margin, and new business growth targets.
  • Develop and implement regional commercial plans aligned with global strategy while adapting to local market dynamics.
  • Drive customer engagement through solution-based selling, strategic account management, and multi-level relationship building.
  • Lead pricing strategies, contract negotiations, and commercial agreements in alignment with internal policies and profitability goals.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and customer needs to identify growth opportunities and strategic risks.
  • Manage and develop a high-performing sales and technical sales team, including coaching, mentoring, and performance management.
  • Strengthen distributor and partner relationships to expand market reach and commercial effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with marketing, R&D, technical services, and operations to deliver integrated customer solutions.
  • Oversee regional sales planning, KPI tracking, and pipeline management to ensure consistent performance and accountability.
  • Contribute to long-term strategic planning and support five-year growth initiatives for the North American market.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Animal Science, Food Science, or a related field (advanced degree preferred).
  • 10+ years of commercial experience in pet food, animal nutrition, rendering, or food ingredients industries.
  • 3+ years of proven sales leadership and team management experience.
  • Strong track record of delivering revenue growth and managing senior-level customer relationships.
  • Deep understanding of the pet food and animal nutrition market and value chain.
  • Expertise in pricing strategy, contract negotiation, and consultative selling.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to develop, coach, and inspire high-performing teams.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills across senior stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
  • High energy, results-driven mindset with the ability to operate in fast-moving, competitive environments.
  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively across North America (up to 75%).
