As an innovative leader in the field, Moveras is committed to excellence and continuous improvement. We invest in our employees and provide opportunities for growth in a collaborative, forward-thinking workplace.

Join us and be part of an industry leader shaping the future of automotive remanufacturing.

Position Summary:

Moveras, a premier provider of remanufactured transmissions, is seeking a meticulous and mechanically minded Quality Control (QC) Technician to join our teardown and recovery team. In this role, you will be the first line of quality defense, inspecting transmission cases, hard parts, and sub-assemblies immediately following the disassembly and initial cleaning processes. Your primary goal will be to evaluate gears, shafts, valve bodies, and cases for wear, pitting, and scoring to determine which components can be salvaged, machined, or must be scrapped. The ideal candidate has a strong automotive background, a keen eye for detail, and experience with precision measurement tools.

Key Responsibilities:

· Transmission Component Inspection: Visually and physically inspect disassembled transmission parts (e.g., planetary gear sets, input/output shafts, clutches, drums, valve bodies, and aluminum cases) for signs of fatigue, fractures, scoring, or abnormal wear.

· Precision Measurement: Utilize micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, dial indicators, and straight edges to verify that critical transmission components meet exact OEM or Moveras remanufacturing tolerances.

· Defect Identification: Identify specific transmission failures such as gear pitting, case warpage, spun bearings, hairline cracks, and valve bore wear.

· Part Disposition & Routing: Accurately sort and tag inspected hard parts into appropriate streams: Salvage/Reuse, Route to Machining/Rework (e.g., valve body reaming), or Scrap.

· Documentation & Traceability: Record inspection results and maintain accurate logs in our production tracking system to ensure full traceability of core components through the remanufacturing lifecycle.

· Cross-Functional Collaboration: Communicate findings back to the teardown builders and forward to the assembly and engineering teams to help identify common failure points in specific transmission families (e.g., 6L80, 4R70W, etc.).

· Equipment Calibration: Ensure all inspection tools and gauges are properly zeroed, calibrated, and maintained.

· Safety & 5S: Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workstation, safely handling heavy transmission components and adhering to all plant safety protocols.

Qualifications & Skills:

· Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required. (Automotive technology degree or ASE certifications are a strong plus).

· Experience: 2+ years of experience in quality control, automotive repair, machining, or heavy manufacturing. Previous experience specifically with automatic transmissions or in an automotive remanufacturing environment is highly preferred.

· Technical Skills:

o Strong familiarity with automotive drivetrain components and their functions.

o Proficiency with precision measuring tools (especially bore gauges and micrometers).

o Ability to read and interpret technical specifications, teardown manuals, and tolerance charts.

o Basic computer literacy for entering part dispositions into the manufacturing software.

· Soft Skills: High attention to detail, strong decision-making skills, and the ability to maintain accuracy in a high-volume, fast-paced plant environment.

Physical Requirements:

· Ability to stand, walk, bend, and reach for extended periods throughout the shift.

· Must be able to safely lift, manipulate, and move heavy transmission components (e.g., cases, torque converters, gear assemblies) weighing up to 50 lbs.

· Good manual dexterity and visual acuity to spot minute defects, hairline cracks, and operate precision inspection tools.

· Comfortable working in a remanufacturing plant environment that involves exposure to transmission fluid, industrial cleaners, noise, and machinery.
