FLSA Status: Full-Time

Pay: $43,680-$52,000

Schedule: Monday–Friday, with some evening and weekend events required

Reports To: Director of Strategic Partnerships and Community Engagement

Summary:

The Community Outreach Coordinator advances Green Mountain Habitat for Humanity’s mission by building strong relationships across the community that increase volunteer involvement and expand awareness of Habitat’s homeownership opportunities and ReStore programs. This role leads outreach strategies, cultivates partnerships, and coordinates community engagement activities, to help develop a diverse pipeline of volunteers and prospective homeowners.

Success in this role includes the ability to build and sustain trusted community partnerships, strengthen referral pathways, and connect community members with meaningful opportunities to engage in Habitat’s work. The Community Outreach Coordinator works collaboratively with the Director of Strategic Partners and Community Engagement and across departments to ensure outreach efforts align with organizational goals and reflect GMHFH’s mission.

Primary Responsibilities:

Community Outreach

  • This position works closely with the Director of Strategic Partnerships & Community Engagement to strengthen Habitat's presence throughout the community. While the Director focuses on corporate partnerships, donor engagement, sponsorships, and strategic relationships, the Community Outreach Coordinator focuses on volunteer recruitment, homeowner outreach, and community-based partnerships. Together, these roles ensure a coordinated approach to community engagement, relationship building, and mission advancement.
  • Develop, strengthen, and sustain relationships with community organizations, service providers, civic groups, schools, employers, faith communities, and other partners that can expand volunteer participation and home applicant referrals.
  • Identify and cultivate new partnership opportunities that increase awareness of GMHFH’s work and create meaningful pathways for community involvement.
  • Develop community and corporate partnership for special volunteer projects, including Team Builds and Women Builds.

Volunteer and Homeowner Applicant Engagement

  • Work across departments to create, design and implement outreach strategies that increase volunteer interest and expand awareness of GMHFH’s homeownership program.
  • Participate in community events, information sessions, orientations, and outreach activities that promote volunteerism and educate prospective applicants.
  • Connect appropriate departments with leads for prospective volunteers, partner organizations, and individuals interested in Habitat’s programs.
  • Work closely with our housing partner in collaboration for community outreach events as well as staying current on fair housing laws and program specific updates.
  • Support other departments as needed.

Programming and Events

  • Collaborate closely with internal teams, including construction, family services, development, and leadership, to align outreach activities and messaging with organizational priorities and community needs.
  • Partner with staff to develop outreach materials, messaging, and engagement strategies that are clear, inclusive, and mission-aligned.
  • Create and post appropriate marketing materials, collaborating with GMHFH Marketing Manager as needed.
  • Work closely with Volunteer and Family Services staff to provide program related content for newsletters, social media posts, and other outreach channels.
  • Collaborate with other organizations to provide additional support services for families, including financial literacy training, home maintenance workshops, and more.
  • Attend Family Selection committee meetings.

Data Tracking & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate and timely records related to outreach activities, community partnerships, volunteer leads, applicant inquiries, and event participation.
  • Track and analyze engagement data to assess outreach effectiveness, identify trends, and support continuous improvement.
  • Prepare regular reports on outreach efforts, partnership development, volunteer engagement, and applicant pipeline activity for leadership and Board of Directors.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong relationship-building skills and the ability to work effectively with people from diverse backgrounds and lived experiences.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and events.
  • Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively across departments and with external partners.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends as needed for events and community engagement activities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2+ years experience in community outreach, volunteer recruitment, partnership development, nonprofit programming, housing services, or public engagement.
  • Experience working with diverse and historically underserved communities.
  • Experience with data tracking systems, customer relationship management tools, or outreach databases.
  • Bilingual or multilingual communication skills is a plus.
  • Familiarity with fair housing principles, community-based referral networks, or applicant-facing program outreach is a plus.

Compensation & Benefits

The pay range for this position is $43,680-$52,000. Compensation is determined based on the successful applicant’s qualifications and experience. Benefits include a health reimbursement plan, 200 hours of vacation and sick time, ten paid holidays, and a 20% staff discount at the Habitat ReStore.
