Pay: $25.00 - $30.00
Position Overview
Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Maintenance Engineering Co-Op provides a hands-on learning opportunity for current college students or recent graduates pursuing an Engineering or Technical degree. This role offers practical experience in maintenance operations, equipment reliability, and continuous improvement within a fast-paced aseptic food manufacturing environment. Working alongside experienced maintenance professionals, the Co-Op will support equipment maintenance, reliability initiatives, and improvement projects that enhance safety, quality, productivity, and operational performance while developing valuable technical and professional skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Hands-On Maintenance
- Assist maintenance technicians with troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining production equipment and facility systems.
- Support preventive and predictive maintenance activities on manufacturing equipment.
- Perform equipment inspections, calibrations, and routine maintenance under supervision.
- Participate in safety programs including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), Confined Space Entry, and OSHA compliance activities.
- Assist with equipment installation, startup, and commissioning projects.
- Utilize the CMMS to enter, update, and close maintenance work orders.
- Engineering & Improvement Projects
- Lead assigned Co-Op projects from planning through completion, presenting recommendations and results to plant leadership.
- Support preventive maintenance optimization, spare parts management, and equipment reliability initiatives.
- Analyze maintenance performance data, including downtime, work orders, and OEE metrics, to identify improvement opportunities.
- Participate in Kaizen events, 5S activities, root cause analysis, and other continuous improvement efforts.
- Assist with developing and updating SOPs, work instructions, and maintenance documentation.
- Collaborate with Maintenance, Manufacturing, Quality, and Technical Services teams on projects that improve safety, quality, efficiency, and cost.
Minimum Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in or a recent graduate of an accredited program in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Industrial Technology, Mechatronics, or a related technical field.
- Completion of at least one year of relevant coursework preferred.
- Basic knowledge of mechanical, electrical, or industrial systems through coursework or hands-on experience.
- Strong interest in manufacturing equipment and maintenance.
- Self-motivated with a willingness to learn in a hands-on environment.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work effectively within a collaborative and inclusive team.
